The castaways who make it on the raft are surprised at sea by something unexpected that happens. Meanwhile, remaining islanders attempt to blow open the hatch that's in the forest, and visitor French woman Danielle Rousseau (guest-star Mira Furlan) who comes to the encampment might be a threat to Claire's infant son.
NOTE: The season finale originally scheduled for May 25, 2005 was only supposed to be 90 minutes long, but due to story changes and last minute filming, the series was upgraded to a 2-hour season finale, hence the 3rd episode Exodus(3).
It is revealed that Walt (Malcolm David Kelley) was the "boy" that the "others" were coming for and not Claire's baby that French woman, Danielle Rousseau (Mira Furlan) predicted. "The others" come out to sea and kidnap Walt.
Claire (Emilie de Ravin) decides to name her baby Aaron.
The cliffhanger ends with Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Hurley (Jorge Garcia) and Locke (Terry O'Quinn) finally blowing the hatch door open with the dynamite and finally seeing that it connects to a line further deep down into the unknown.
Sayid (Naveen Andrews) and Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) successfully recover Claire's (Emilie de Ravin) baby boy Aaron from Danielle Rosseau (Mira Furlan) who was dazed and confused on the matter about "the others" wanting the boy and not taking him.
When they finally blow open the hatch, we see that there are rungs towards the top of it...like a ladder. Since the hatch did not have a handle on the outside of it, could it be that it is an exit from something/someplace, instead of an entrance? And with that in mind, what does all of the negativity around it (the "unlucky" numbers, Boone's death, Walt's premonition, etc.) mean?
