Loud BOOM this morning

I live in the Morganza area (between Leonardtown and Mechanicsville)...anyway, this morning our lights flickered and then heard a loud BOOM. Almost like a gun shot...but really loud. Both my kids came running. Called my mom...she lives a few streets past me and the same thing happened to them. Just curious if anyone else heard it? I'd like to know what it was.

Exactly. They make one heck of a loud sound. Not fatal though. Not to worry.

Where I live, I have a couple different kinds of strange sounds I can hear on any given day; testing at Dahlgren, racing at MIR or Budd's Creek, and Geek.
