Do you still use betamax?

Nope. I'm up to date on all modern technology. But thanks for asking. :huggy:

BTW, I picture you looking like the pc guy in the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials. :killingme

It is when it lasts a long time and you can do so much more on it right out of the box. Plus, it's user friendly.
To me, investment means money, not time. I've had my Vaio laptop for going on 4 years, and it hasn't given me any problems. And it cost a lot less than a Mac. That's not to say I'll never get one...when I start working again I'd like to upgrade.

Let me know how much you could sell your Vaio laptop for.

I don't want to sell it, I want to use it until the wheels fall off, so to speak.

I've always wanted a Mac, but they're so expensive.

Yeah but if you buy the new Intel chip laptops and use VM Fusion software you can run Windows and Apple OSs at the same time. I love my new mac (2nd one i've had). And VM Fusion software is free. Much better than Apple's Boot Camp because you don't have to reboot the system to switch operating systems.

Saves a whole lot of time when I need to use those Window's only programs.

Isn't Fusion still in beta testing? I use parallels on my macbook as my inventory program I use for my shop is windows. It is blazingly fast and runs at the same time as OSX. Very happy with my new macbook. Now that macs run both, they are truly a hybrid. My wife, who is a lifelong windows user has decided her next computer will be a mac.

My best,
Joe

Not sure how much of a hurry I'm in to drop $120-150 on the upgrade. Will probably play with it first through the Airport connection somewhere. I could always take it to the AppleStore in the mall here. Have to go pick up my Ipod in the next few days anyway. :yay:

If you are a govt employee (state, fed, or local) you can get it for $107 with the discount Apple offers:

http://www.apple.com/r/store/government/

Or if you are enrolled in any college or work for an education institution you can get it for $69:

http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/routingpage.html

They offer similar discounts on all of their products...not just OS's.

But if I were you I would hold out for 10.5 in October.

I got my Macbook for $1030 from Amazon last May....their prices are very comparable to Vaios.... you just can't compare them to some Dell crapbox.
