'MACHINE GUN TOURISM' THRIVING IN LAS VEGAS

Tourists who come into The Gun Store "can fire an array of machine guns, including a World War II-era Schmeisser machine gun, a pink AK-47 with a 'Hello Kitty' decal and a belt-fed M249 that's currently used by the U.S. Military in Afghanistan."

Irwin says the "Hello Kitty guns" are popular with bachelorette parties. But he also sells packages "ranging from $100 to $1,000 for bachelor parties and even weddings."

He said a lot of people come into his store because they "want to shoot the guns they see in movies." For this reason, he keeps Israeli-made UZIs--popular in 1980s movies--on hand.

Hugo Schmeisser had NOTHING to do with the MP - 38/40

Schmeisser's most important work had been underway since 1938. This new automatic weapon, with a short cartridge 7.92 mm, allowed for smart usage of resources and high production. At first named the Mkb 42, it later received the designation of MP-43, and it became one of the first assault rifles. By 1943, 10,000 pieces had already been manufactured for the front. For a short time, Hitler stopped production, as he was mysteriously opposed to the new weapon. In 1944, after troop testing verified the new weapon's legitimacy, Hitler authorized mass production of the MP-43 as well as further research into a new MP-44. In April 1944 the new weapon received the designation of "Sturmgewehr 44" ("Assault Rifle 44", literally "Storm Rifle 44"). The Stg44 was arguably Schmeisser's most important weapon development.

Hitler didn't like the MP-43 because it looked cheap since it had a lot of stamped metal parts

Don't know if it is still in business but, last time I was in Phoenix, I was gonna go on a tour and get to ride in a Hummer with a .50 mounted on it. And shoot the hell out of the desert. This was pre-$5,000,000 a round.

Plans fell through. :tantrum:

Yeah, not ready to spend 5 or 6K on a gun.

Spend? Think of it as an investment.

In 1959, when you were in, what, high school  had you bought a brand new Les Paul, it would have set you back $269 and another $15 for a case. A fortune back then for the average man who barely made 10 times that for the year and bread only cost $.14 a loaf.

Today, they're worth as much as $750,000
