This is my first two macro shots I have ever made. How did I do? Any pointers?

Mouse...you did great! The first image really pops, great color and comp...and keeps your attention. On the second, which is a good image, maybe try to get down lower or place the camera below the flowers looking into the sky or level looking accrosss the tops...does this makes sense? Or maybe the same image with your feet at the base...have fun with it, the great thing about photography is that you make the rules!
Play...play...play!
Angles always seem to make the ordinary more interesting.
The below I took a bunch so you could see the whole body and web, but this angle seems to hit a bit better.
Great job, and I'm glad you're out trying new things...the more the better!
Keep going. WooHoo for Mousebaba!

Anytime
I think JBR's comments on Depth of field from the other day fit in right here
Couple examples of Depth of Field

This is the time of day to shoot. The hour of light at the end of the day or first thing in the morning is amazing. Prime time light there.

Another tip about backgrounds, they steal away from your subject. take your aperture down to between 2.8. and 5.6 and it blurs the ugly background stuff out. The lower the number the blurrier it gets and the less depth of field or depth of focus your image has.

Enjoy the day!

I always used to use a setting of f4 for flower pictures to blur the background yet still have good focus on the central subject

Macro of Wildflowers

:howdy:
I hope you all don't mind a newbie from North Carolina. I have been reading the forum with interest since the Scavenger Hunt and have enjoyed it and learned a lot.
This is a sample of my macros of wildflowers. I love to photograph the wildflowers and steams in the Great Smoky Mtn. National Park. Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Macro of Small Crosses

Welcome to chipper101!

These are from a small collection mine. On the left a reproduction of an Ethiopian cross and on the right an antique European crucifix. Both are approximately 8 cm high. I hope to get out soon and try some nature shots.

I found all the sharks teeth at Cove Pt beach in Calvert county.

I walked that beach a million times when I worked at CP, and never once did I get lucky enough to find a tooth. I never sat down and dug though, just walked.
