When you go to Aldi's be prepared to go to another grocer to finish your shopping.
That is true, however I would wager that most folks on this site were used to shopping at several stores anyway picking up sale items. I know I did it paid off big time! And that is not even including coupons. Used to be you could buy the Washington post for a buck and $10 or more in usable coupons, double or triple coupons were like finding gold.

Watched a clip from a show once with some woman that was an expert at finding coupons for groceries.

They showed her roll four carts full of stuff to the register and walk away with an $11.?? bill.

I shop at several different stores, depending on who has what and if there's a sale that's worth it.

From what my wife tells me, the stores have gotten wise to that and have made changes to their coupon policies.

Yeah. Now, at places like Giant, you have to use a "digital coupon" on your phone that doesn't give you that discount until you spend $25 or more in a single purchase. Negates the coupon as being a coupon from the go.

I only shop at another store if my usual (Giant, Lusby) doesn't stock what I'm looking for.

I buy few enough things at BJs that I sometimes question whether it's worth keeping the membership, but gas is generally cheaper there.

^THIS is the kind of place we need here.

Me too. Cracker Barrel has it, but it's just 'ok'. Never been successful making a good one myself, although it sounds so simple.
Bob Evans in Prince Fred has a pretty decent one. The best one I EVER HAD was in a small place near the Greyhound bus station in Joplin, MO. It was so good, I wanted to slap somebody's momma. I got it on a tranfer from Indianapolis, and had a lay-over of about an hour. Walked a block to the restaurant. It was so good, I would occasionally drive up from Tulsa just to have that breakfast. It's about an hour and a half to Joplin, so basically, most of a Saturday or Sunday.

The second best one I ever had was at a now-defunct restaurant in Inverness, FL, called 2 Sisters (one sister passed on). That was such a good breakfast that I threatened to fly up to Southern Maryland and throw rocks at Linda's - and I like Linda's. And Linda, of course. I was only half kidding, because I didn't want to interrupt my breakfast.

The third best were the ones I always got from Ho-Jo's around Tulsa, Joplin, and Little Rock. They were prepared per usual, but they had what I would say is a slightly peppery flavor. That could have come from the cream country gravy. It was served on an open-faced hamburger bun (grilled) with aforementioned gravy and a fresh slice of tomato.

In the Midwest - Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas, mainly, we referred to it all as "chicken fried steak;" regardless of whether if was chicken or beef. It was the way it was prepared, not the meat.

Same in Nebraska. I've eaten CFS one time in my life and that was at an RV park in Ft. Stockton TX. They had an onsite restaurant that specialized in CFS so I thought, what the heck. It was...tasty...but the goober factor was high so it grossed me out.

You guys are going to screw things up, once the yuppies start seeing tallow as a good thing they'll drive the price up. I used to get pork bellies for $2.00 a pound, once someone put it on the menu it went to $10.00. Start pushing things I don't like, tell them about how great chitlins are or brains that kind of thing.

I always ask for the gravy on the side. The excess gravy is too much, and makes the crispy soggy.

The battered and fried part is what sends me over. Beef with gravy, sure. Battered and fried beef, big fat honking no. Cover it with gravy to boot and...🤢

When I was a kid I wouldn't eat gravy at all. Not on my meat, not on my potatoes. I acquired that taste as I got older.

My idea was to tell them that kudzu is a superfood.

My dad wanted country fried steak and boiled potatoes all the time when I was growing up, got so tired of it I can't even look at it to this day.
