Man Can't Simply "Make" Worship

"Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see."

Spiritually this church was blind. And unfortunately that is true of so many people today; they are spiritually blind —blindly following blind leaders. So many of the apostate churches today are hiring gay or lesbian pastors. Many churches deny to infallibility of the Bible, deny the divinity of Jesus Christ, the atoning work of Jesus Christ. You have to wonder, "Why do they even exist?" Well, they exist because they’ve been left great fortunes and large endowments. They exist because the people are blind to their spiritual condition.

The Rapture by Chuck Smith

That is why I feel the Catholic article is garbage. Blame protestants for all your problems.

As a liturgical Protestant all I want to say is, "What the hell are you talking about?!!"

Making arguments ad hominem doesn't make one right.
Chuck was wrong on a lot of things and I even corrected his kindle book by writing notes in it.
But people like Chuck make mistakes because they try.
The unexamined Christian life doesn't make mistakes because they don't try.

The parable says where there are no oxen, the crib is clean and everyone who doesn't try has a clean crib.
A person is going to make mistakes when they enter the ministry. Even Moses wasn't perfect and made mistakes.
What I can do is learn from others, examine their doctrine and correct their mistakes.

Why should we be discerning the signs of the times if they are so general signs and why should we be watching for the Lord's return if no one knows the day or the hour?

Jesus told His followers to learn from those who sat in Moses's seat but not to do as they do because they are hypocrites. Should someone in public school refuse to learn math from a morally corrupt teacher in school? No. Math remains math and I have learned from false teachers and heretics but not from their false teachings. It has made me go through the scriptures again and again.

But that doesn't explain why the writer of your article can't see the Forrest from the trees.
The common theme is to blame protestants for their problem than to explain why they can't make a difference.
The writer of the article doesn't explain the background information.
Blah blah blah. La la la

"it is too easy for a Catholic reader to superficially acknowledge the Cardinal’s words as a condemnation of Protestantism. While they do condemn those who fabricate their own faith, Cardinal Ratzinger’s purpose in writing the work is to show Catholics what a proper “spirit of the liturgy” should be.

The Catholic liturgy is not in danger of being hijacked by Protestants; it was and still is in danger of being made protestant by Catholics."

Just another snarky, condescending, smarmy way to try and be polite, but still looking down the catholic nose, toward anyone who does not buy into the man-made catholic liturgy. To think that bible believing protestants are "hijacking" catholic theology is laughable.

BTW, onel, I agree that there are too many "churches" that eschew the gospel and good old bible preaching for the singing, camaraderie, self-centered "worship" that edifies the individual, and not Christ.

There's trying and then there's selling books. Why give Chuck Smith any ounce of credit? If you are a believer in sola scriptura, and scripture clearly states that no one knows the date/time/hour, then the first time (of many in Smith's case) some "Christian" tells me in 1981 Christ will return I throw his book, CDs, and anything else attributed to him in the trash!!!!! But you give him credit because he tried?!?!?! Very, very telling to me Chuck!

You da man, Chuck. A God amongst us, even.

After writing Bible studies for 14 years and studying for 29 years, the ones that can do better than me have been to bible school or are in ministry. They have bills to pay so you won't find a lot of them on the internet giving away bible teaching for free.

So after trying to get my theology straight for the last 35 years, it is disappointing to see so many people not want to come alongside of me and help me. They can't even help and I would teach them but most even don't try.

You do not even realize how full of yourself you are.
Did you ever think no one wants to "come alongside of me and help me" is because your are so narcissistic, no one can stand being with you?

I don't agree with the article.

I see beauty in life and give thanks and therefore I am "making worship". It's not up to some leader of a church to tell me to see the beauty and what that beauty is and how I should be thankful for it. It's up to me.

A lot of your sentences begin with "I" and that's why we have 33,000 denominations. Christ told us how to worship and the apostles taught others after him...most ignore his instructions at the last supper and even more ignore how the Christians in the 1st and 2nd centuries worshiped.

Didn't you say, comments were appreciated and you didn't want to pick a fight? :eyebrow:

Here's a different perspective to consider - Free Will.

And none of us worship, dress, eat, get medical care, etc. the way the first Christians did. Not a one of us. Things change over time, including religion.
