20 years ago when this happened the mortgage companies starting calling loans due in full.. and you had 30 days to re-finance or pay off the loan in full or lose your house.
Thankfully after that fiasco they changed the laws and you won't lose your house because the bank needs to liquidate their assetts.

I wonder how many times loan officers have mentioned that story over the water cooler.

Which would explain you forgetting such memorable events as 9/11, The Fall of the Berlin Wall, The Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster, etc...in favor of a little financial blip. :lmao:

Oh yeah... :dork:

I do lunch sometimes... :lmao:

But, to be honest I only remember 9/11 out of that entire list. I remember hearing about them but not during where I actually followed it.

When I was a kid inflation scared me because I didn't know what or who it was, I just knew it was coming and people were depressed. The mortgage bubble burst kind of falls on the lines of that. But 9/11 is definitely one to share with the grands. :yay:

I was taught that when the market takes a dive:
"You never lose money, until you sell."
That's right - I'm not selling a thing. In fact, I bought today and may buy again tomorrow, depending. I like getting stocks that I know are solid for cheap. :yay:

I am still 20+ years or so from retirement so this is a good thing in the long term for me, still hurts to see that I have lost about 12K in like 2 weeks, which is almost 10% of my total account seeing how I am almost 100% invested in stocks.
