"Report: Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Says Marijuana Not a Drug

LONDON — California's governor says marijuana is not a drug, a British magazine reported Monday.

Arnold Schwarzenegger told the British edition of GQ magazine that he had not taken drugs. The former bodybuilder and Hollywood star has acknowledged using marijuana in the 1970s and was shown smoking a joint in the 1977 documentary "Pumping Iron."

"That is not a drug. It's a leaf," Schwarzenegger told GQ.

"My drug was pumping iron, trust me," he added.

In an interview for the magazine's December issue, Schwarzenegger refused to condemn politicians who declined to answer questions about drug use.

I wrote a letter over a decade ago to our leaders. If we were to tax it we could control the additives... keep it just pot... it would be a health and safety issue....

They told me that pot is not healthy... that's why it's illegal...

BULLCHIT!

What about ciggarettes? Alcohol?

Most legal OTC drugs are unhealthier than weed.

How you like me now?

and cig's and alcohol is? BS. If they make it legal then anyone can grow it. If it is home-grown then how would they be able to tax it.

I think it should be legal.

Even though it's a plant.

Government shouldn't regulate plants. I mean, we're spending much more on the "War on drugs" than the government's making. And 70% of it is going after marijuana, which is far less dangerous than cocaine, meth, heroin, etc. :smack:

I guess that explains why cigarettes, bourbon, and cheez-doodlez are A-OK.

If you live on the left coast, you'd never know that cigs are still legal. Same for cheez doodles in NYC. Bourbon can't be far behind.

Given recent trends in nanny state laws, all three should be illegal within ten years. So what is more likely: pot being legalized, or alcohol and tobacco joining pot as illegal drugs?

Alcohol will never be illegal again, especially when there's a huge nationwide call to lower the drinking age.

Pot will never be "legal" nationwide, not in the forseeable future. But, 10-20 years from now, a few (I won't guess at the number) states will probably just get sick of trying to enforce it and make it a misdameanor with a small fine or something.

Thankful

"my drug" = my addition

My interpretation is that Arnold was clearly stating that what “controlled” him was his addition to pumping iron and that the weed was just a social participation. Since everyone has different levels of control – some are more likely to be controlled/addicted to a weed then they would have been to pumping iron.

If it becomes legal then what would happen to the education system? Also the government does control plants – does “farm bill” ring a bell?

That's Dr. Fishn to you..
I remeber when I thought weed was cool... Then I grew up and looked at all the dudes who were over 30 and still smoked and realized that these people were retarded..... and probably were gonna lose their jobs, or just continue to be a loser forever.

:yeahthat:

My child's father is a poster child for Why You Should Not Smoke Pot.

If my daughter even thinks of trying it she'll be locked in her room until she's 40.

Here's the argument...

"What would you rather have? A politician taking stuff and not saying, but making the best decisions and improving things? Or a politician who names all the drugs he or she has taken but makes lousy decisions for the country?" Schwarzenegger was quoted as saying.

How about C, a pol who doesn't take drugs and makes good decisions? Or D, a pol who doesn't take drugs and makes bad decisions? It's not an a acceptable argument to claim taking drugs and not talk about is the path to good leadership. That's like telling people yah gotta try this new restaurant, great food and service, and not tell them where it is or how to get there. I mean, does one learn to make good decisions because of drug use or in spite of it? Does one learn to make good decisions by talking about their path or by not talking about it?

Politicians are the ones who, collectively, make the argument that they are fabulous and the best choice because they lived some sort of perfect life. Politicians are the ones responsible for what they do and don't tell us. They set the bar. Half the population does not even vote because of this mind numbing falseness.

"A politician's job is to do what's best for the people and to improve the country, the economy, the environment. Why should I care if a politician takes sleeping pills every night so long as he can do his job?"

Make a case that sleeping pills or heroin or alcohol helps one do what's best then.

And don't try and tell people grass is not a freaking drug. And don't tell us you didn't inhale and don't tell us it didn't affect you perspective.

Tell us how it affected your perspective.

...will and within the next 20 years. It will be just like alcohol and the law will be enforced; fines, a night in the clink, loss of drivers license, etc.

I'm certainly not FOR making pot legal but...... I dont think everyone who smokes it is a loser. Kinda like not everyone who drinks alcohol is a drunk. :otter:
Each person handles it differently.
