Any bad experiences with this guy. Apparently he's the only one in town. Noticed in the better business bureau that they had an unsat report. I heard a lot of bad things lately about this guy. Any info you might want to share.

He ripped me off, he knew it and I knew it, but what can you do, he's a big old ugly guy that uses tactics to intimidate the customer, he can be right nasty. He doesn't care and I'm sure he stays in business because of the equipment people leave behind due to the high estimates then he fixes for next to nothing and re-sells as well as he is the authorized repair guy for alot of the equipment people buy extended warranties on. He is a walking bad attitude with zero people skills and enjoys ripping people off. I will never go there and I will always put the word out until he goes out of business, everyone should spread the word on this guy to save a few victims that might otherwise walk through the door of his shop.

Got you too, huh? Here's a link I started awhile back because of the same reasons. Long story short, I couldn't find anyone else to repair my tv. It costs me 250.00 to repair the tv. I HATE MARK! I wish someone else would open another business around here (better yet, I wish I knew how to repair them, that's a gold mine waiting to happen!)

The Better Business Bureau is crap for this reason. If you inquire about a company, for instance all you folks looking for Marks today. In the next couple of weeks Mark will receive telephone solicitations to "join" the BBB for about $400 per year. Now how can they *really* act on the consumers behalf when they are beholden to businesses for their revenues. And in my opinion, the legitimate complaints that they resolve would have been resolved by a legitimate business without the BBB. My two cents...

What type of work do you need done?

Most modern electronic components are either covered under warranty when they break, or they are considered “disposable” when they break. Unfortunately, I’ve got some stuff that doesn’t fall into either of those categories.

There are some guys in Springfield, Va. who are go-to guys when you have “weird” stuff like I have and it needs repair. These guys are the real-deal. Mark is just a bafoon.

I had one experience with them. I went in and asked if they had any RCA cables. The guy had no clue what I was talking about. I won't go back.

I've heard of similar stories about that store. I would stay away from places like that. I wonder if we will see one positive post about Mark's Electronics.

Years ago...

refused to prove that he fixed stereo before I left the store... 30 mile drive. It would have taken 5 minutes. All I needed was an electric cord. He got real jerky... he almost became the new owner of my stereo.

The fix lasted about 4 months. Never again.

I've come to realize that most electronics are generally disposable anyway, I haven't had a need to go back since.

I'll give you one:

He did some advertising with us a few years ago and paid his bill on time.

And his dad is a really nice man.

In 1996 ± a year or so, he fixed a 30" GE that was just out of warranty. He called with a $140 estimate and when I picked it up, the bill was $140.

I've tried to deal with them a couple of times since and if this is the same pleasant person I dealt with originally, something has radically changed his life.

I don't think nothing actually changed his life, he is a closed minded, self centered jerk. It takes up to 10 words in a conversation with him before he gets arrogant, he avoids discussing the work he has done and will actually threaten the customer if you continue with the conversation. He evades the questions and if that doesn't work he gets an attitude and walks away. Most of the time I suspect his evasion with the attitude is because he cannot explain what he hasn't done. If you ask around you will find out that his cost are reflective of a cost that will make you decide to just leave your unit and if you leave it and he says 275 for the cost, he will typically fix it for next to nothing and sell it. He works all the schemes to rip the comsumer off for all he can get from every angle. He is a class A jerk and I've found out you can go anywhere, bring his name up, and bad experiences will pour out with everyone saying, never again.

I just dealt with him for the first time in the last few weeks and his shop is a rip off. Also, I am detecting some attitude, but the bullying described below will not be tolerated if he pulls it with me. Told him I am coming to pick it up after a silly quote and he said "fine".

So I will be picking up my equipment today and trying to find someone else to work on it. As stated, he is about the only game in town and his game is BS and Redskins crap. Not much to do with electronics.

Mark is a DB. He floods the FB yardsale pages with his overpriced crap. I can remember when the editor of a local news site had to block nasty comments about him when they wrote an advertorial about him. The same advertorial that was written for free because he stated that he was going to sign an advertising contract and backed out at the last minute. :lmao:
