Married or single?

Financially speaking, what's the best option?

Say the two of you have kids, but none together. One of you makes a good amount of money and the other only makes a modest amount annually. You don't own a house and you don't have a lot of debt.

TIA.

the best financial move is to move to North Dakota and to make an oil well...

I'm just trying to understand the perspective of a person I know who thinks that married is the ONLY way they can live. Therefore, they pursue every person they look at as a potential spouse. There has to be a reason they feel that way and telling me it's religious is :bs: IMO.

I've never been married, but have been engaged a couple of times. So no, this is not about me. I've no inclination to marry anytime soon:lol:

Some people are that way. I had an ex-gf that way. I've had friends and family members that married the first person that would take them. Trying to find a logical reason for an emotional decision never works.

I don't think it's for religious reasons. Just think those type of people are afraid to be alone or they need to be dependent on someone else to take care of them financially, etc.

Hmm, So you don't think that the Catholic mentality of a conventional relationship could be the reason??

How about if said person, would even date a person in jail rather than EVER say they were single for a single day??
Said partner is obviously not helping out financially, or in any realy capacity.

It's desperate as hell to not give ones self a chance to be ok with themselves before taking on someone else and their problems. I had asked my one friend to PLEASE take a break and get their head on straight, but they totally ignored me.:ohwell:

Two are always better than one, but not when it comes to taxes. I think MD passed that "domestic partnership" thing as well....not sure though.

Not as far as I know. MD is also not a common law state. Single parents get way better tax breaks. :diva:

Medication is cheaper than marriage. :dork:

Staying single keeps you from having to take medication to begin with.

Said person may put a high emphasis on marriage due to her faith; however, her faith has nothing to do with the fact that she can't stand being single. Said person needs his/her head examined.

If I need to take medication to cope w/a relationship, then it's definately time to get the moving boxes.

If this person is looking at everyone as a potential mate, including jail, I think they need medication!!!!

I know too many people like that. You've gotta be able to live with yourself before you can make it work with somebody else. But I haven't found the right words to convince any of those people yet.
