yes, eating disorders are very serious, I did a term paper 2 months ago on eating disorders & how they relate to issues like low self esteem

Anorexia usually stems from control issues rather than a need to be thin. Sometimes girls think that the only thing in their life that they can control is their weight/food intake. So they stop eating, or binge and purge, to prove that they can control their lives. It's sad.

sorry Nic didn't see your post until after I posted but yeah... something like that... they don't realize they are doing it though and stay in denial too Try to tell a practicing Anorexic or bulemic they are doing this for control and they probably won't agree... they hear the concept, but can't comprehend the concept... and then they really don't see themselves as getting sickly thin
