Md. Boy, 12, Kills Man Attacking Mother

The 12-year-old boy had finished his homework and was playing a video game when he heard his mother cry out. Rushing to her aid, he found her on the kitchen floor, straddled by a fellow resident of their Prince George's County boarding house, the man's hands wrapped tightly around her neck, the boy said yesterday.

The boy said he grabbed a knife and swung, slashing 64-year-old Salomon Noubissie across the neck and opening an artery. Noubissie was fatally wounded.

Law enforcement officials were reviewing evidence yesterday and had not decided whether to file charges. Their preliminary account of the incident broadly matches that of the boy and his mother.

Had not decided whether to file charges???????????????????????????

In a sane world, they would say "Well, the guys dead, let's just forget about charging him with assault and attempted murder."

Maryland, my Maryland, is mulling over whether or not to charge the boy!!!!

Here, a bone for us;

"In Maryland, there can be a legitimate defense of third parties in the event of a violent attack," State's Attorney Glenn F. Ivey said. "That is a possibility in this case."

Maryland says you can, maybe, sorta, possibly defend a third party.

How nice. Mother may I.

In a sane world, the boy would have already gotten his medal and key to the city.

:shocking: I heard about this in the bank... ppl were outraged that they had the audacity to consider charging this kid.

this boy should b congratulated on his heroic act, not have to worry about whether or not he's going to jail for it!

I hope his mom buys him a REALLY nice present ( to go along with the counselling he'll need)

A knife sharpener might be a good choice.

Maryland law does say that you can defend a third party along with yourself against death or serious bodily injury. Seems pretty clear "cut" here as to what happened.

Don't know why the States Attorney makes it seem iffy that he was within the law to defend his mother's life.

When I saw them interviewed on the news last night, something didn't seem right about their story. It almost seemed contrived. I wonder if that might not be why they are still leaving it open for further investigation.

They said he didn't call 911 because there "were no minutes on her cell phone." The Post story sounds a lot different than what they showed last night, so who knows?

Because this is Maryland. You're not allowed to defend yourself in your own home. We have to protect the criminals in this state. :sarcasm:

...spit it out; what do you think really happened? They're vampires? Robbed him? What?

I don't know. Maybe she killed him and told the kid to say he did it? It just set off my :bs: detector. It's probably nothing, but you know how sometimes the story just doesn't feel right? I hope I'm wrong.

I was kind of thinking the same thing, but the dude's dead so we have nothing else to speculate on.

...and that is the byproduct of our news media; it's not about the story, it's about the reporters.

So, play the hunch. She could have just said he was raping/attacking me and I killed him accidentally without dragging the kid into it. Come on, man! Tell a story!

Well, yeah.

I watched the report on FOX5 News, and it set my :bs: detector off. I could be wrong, my :bs: detector has been overworked with how long this election has dragged on. Maybe I need to tune the sensitivity.

I used to work for Alltel and I can tell you for a fact that even a cell phone that has no minutes on it can call 911. Even if your phone has been cut off for non-pay it can still dial 911. That's bull on their part.

FOX5 ate it up too quick, imo.

I mean, I hate to agree with MMDad but I'm with him on this. All we know, at this point, is what two people told us and FOX5 (who doesn't have the best reputation) ate it up like hungry wolves. They provided very little actual details in the report.

I thought the kid said he tried to call 911 on his prepaid. I didn't know she tried.

Either way, you're right. Another thing I have to toss the :bs: flag out on.

Yup, all charged cell phones whether active or not can call 911, now whether she knew that or not.....

All I know about the story is from what I have read here so I can't throw up any bs flags yet.
