Krazd Kat,
No offense, but I have tried to go through a shelter to get a dog for the last six month. So far no luck. Now I know most are volunteers but for the most part, they always take at least a week to get back in touch with you. There is also a high payment and contract that you have to go through it is ridiculous. I am still looking for a good dog that will fit my family. So I have no qualms about somebody posting to rehome their dog to a good home.
It is ridiculous. I wanted to adopt a great dane from a rescue organization. First you fill out an application, fine, I have a 6 foot fence around my yard, carpeted stairs (they dont want the dog to slip) None of my dogs have ever slipped on bare wood floors. Then it was wait for another month for them to come check out the house. Next they wanted us to bring all of our dogs, 14 y/o chow, 15 y/o shepherd to the foster home to see how they got along, that is where I stopped. I wasnt going to take my dogs to see this dog. That is just too much BS to save a dog from being put down. I went and got a white german shepherd from the tri-county shelter. All the dogs get along great, old and young.
