Maytag refrigerator, side by side

I never had a fridge. with an ice maker or water dispenser, until yesterday.

Last week the plumber came and installed a plastic water line.

Yesterday the delivery guys from Home Depot brought the new fridge.

We threw away the first 12 hours of ice as recommended.

Here's the problem(s)...
The water runs TOO slow, ands when I dispense ice, that's too slow, too!
Almost everyone in the world had a fridge like this and I have used them before. Just today at a friends house, her is fine! Fast ice, fast water.

Why is mine so slow: :frown:

Yes, I read the book. Yes, I called Home Depot, who told me to call the Maytag repair man, but if any of you guys or gals have any idea, for a solution, please know that I'd appreciate it!!

Thanks

The ice will dispense slow if there isn't much ice in the tray. Once it fills up, it will dispense faster. The water thing

That is one thing I will never have. My mother has one, and it "spits" out ice (all over the floor, on my hand and in the drain) half might make it into the glass. It has for 10 years, and apparently that is normal. Useless feature, IMO, and just something else to break. Unfortunately, that is the only way to get ice when I visit her.

I like my regular refrigerator with the icemaker in the freezer. :yay:

Good luck! :huggy:

I would not accept that as "normal." I'd have it fixed.

As for the ice maker in the freezer....sounds like the way to go! :yay:

I go thru all this :bs: because I am apparently the only one in the house who knows the recipe for ice. For the last 12 years...I have been the only mofo making ice and I am sick of it. That's why HE bought me this fridge. Because HE is too effing lazy to make ice.
Men....

We bought the GE Profile French Door Bottom Freezer model about six months. It has the icemaker in the bottom and a water dispenser on the inside. I love it!

Have you had a dispenser/ice maker before? Maybe the water line to the fridge is clogged?

No. Never had this before. the water line was brand new last week. What would clog it?

Pam,

Ours started out slow for some reason and then in a month or so, the ice making/water speed picked up.

We had to have the technician come out.

It makes ice and the water comes out. But both are slow.

did you ever find out why yours was slow? BS girl says "The ice will dispense slow if there isn't much ice in the tray. Once it fills up, it will dispense faster."
So I will check it tomorrow. By then it should be full.

Maybe there is a kink in the hose somewhere. Have your honey check the hose and make sure it's not getting pinched off somewhere. Hope this helps! :huggy:

Another thing I notice is mine has 1 place to dispense water & ice.
You have to select the water button, or crushed or cubed ice buttons. I've not seen one like this before. I've only seen the ones where one side dispenses ice and the other side dispenses water.

Thanks, but we've already checked the hose. Ours isn't kinky. It's a plastic hose not a copper hose.

Right, I knew what you meant.

My husband had to put water in the tray, but I don't remember if it was anything specific. He is working right now and out on a call. I'll ask him when he gets back in and calls. If that isn't too late.

I think my mom's is like that. When I'm at her house, I still open the freezer to get the ice, I'm a creature of habit.

Is the water on/off valve that the 'plastic hose' connects to in the wall, opened up all the way?

Mine does water, ice or crushed. The crushed will take more time to come thru. I LOVE the crushed ice. I'm an ice cruncher.

Yes, we double checked that. Thanks.

Same here. Cubes come faster, but not as fast as I've seen my friends come. I like to suck on ice chips, too. :high5:

Supplement with a bag of ice from the local liquor store until your gets going. It takes a while. I LOVE my icemaker.
