Maryland considers adding nooses to hate crime law

"ANNAPOLIS, Md. Saying nooses have replaced white hoods and burning crosses as symbols of racial hate, some Maryland lawmakers have proposed making it illegal to place one on someone's property as a threatening gesture based on race or another protected class.

"Nooses seem to be becoming the premier symbol of racism today," said Delegate Saqib Ali, D-Montgomery, who co-sponsored one of two bills a House committee debated Wednesday."

Another boatload of crap. Anything deemed offensive will be called racist. How much longer will we be extorted into Political Correctness before we speak out.

The more attention we give the nooses being hung the more they're going to pop up around the nation. It is no wonder they're replacing "white hoods and burning crosses as symbols of racial hate". I attend the University of Maryland and back in September (I believe) someone hung a noose by the Nyumburu Cultural Center. Media coverage was nonstop! I personally believe that some idiot put it up just to see what type of reaction he/she would get. Well, he/she sure got what they were looking for.

That would not be a problem if they word the bill as the article states "illegal to place one on someone's property as a threatening gesture based on race or another protected class". My guess is the motive behind said noose must be clearly to scare/intimidate someone in order for the court to actually convict someone on this.

I've never thought of nooses as being a "racist" thing. I picture a noose and I see an old west hanging. The posse done ran the bad guy down... But then again I was raised in the far north in possibly the whitest place in the US. A regional thing maybe.
