If a police officer is worth $310, I wonder what a offing a walmart cashier is worth?

When I first read the headline I was "What the..." and a bit pizzed, but then after reading the article are realizing that after a full investigation it was decided that all she had to do was pay the fine, it seems the conclusion is that he was at fault for walking out into oncoming traffic like he had bumpers on his azz. Sounds like she wasn't given the distance to stop.

I can agree w/this. I had a cop walk right out in front of me once, without warning. It scared the crap out of me. He's darn lucky I was able to brake to avoid hitting him.

:yay:

I had the same reaction.

I don't know why they (cops) do that anyway. I know that the one time I got flagged over I thought "what is he going to do? Stick out his hand and make me stop? I could just run the sucker over if I wanted."

of course I didn't run him over...and ended up getting a ticket :lmao: Ungrateful bastage.

Yeah that is why I added that, stepping out in front of traffic is bad no matter who you are bit.

Anne Arundel stopped that practice immediately after the cop was killed. That speed trap caused chaos at that location. Traffic is usually going at an excessive speed until they see the cops and then the tailgaters are skidding off the road avoiding the cars avoiding killing the cop. This was absolutely going to happen no if,and or buts. Besides the $310 fine, the judge should have thanked her for bring this to our attention. It is a wonder that it didn't cause some horrific wrecks.

$60
Failure to yield

The ONLY reason it was $310 is because they just clocked her speeding.

Nope. Failure to yield is what they hit you with if you pull out in front of someone. If the cop hadn't died, they should have charged him with failure to yield.

She was fined $280 for negligent driving, and $130 for speeding.

Since she was 25, had a clean record, and the cop stepped out in front of her it seems appropriate to me.

So what happened to the other $100? $410-$100=$310?

If it had been a Walmart cashier, odds are she wouldn't have had a police issue calibrated radar gun so no speeding ticket.
Guess it would be up to officers on scene as to other charges.
