Hmmm.....they can't do anything to keep from getting knocked up and anything that promotes the chance of pushing out another pup is all good.......so, I'd say that's why they are for it. :yay:

"quality of life" drugs should NOT be covered by insurance companies. Not BC, not fertility, not viagra, not migraine meds, not allergy meds, NONE of that type of stuff. Antibiotics? Yes. Pain killers (when recovering from surgery)? Yes. Life saving drugs? Yes.

Whoa - why not migraine meds? There are more than one type of migraine, and oftentimes it takes a neurologits to diagnose and recommend the best therapy.

Medical policy from the insurance perspective is extremely involved. An insurer may only cover, say, IMitrex for very specific migraines, and allow something like AMerge for other diagnoses. There may be different copays for drugs your insurer covers too, $5 for generics, $15 for brands, and $50+ for "non-preferred brands" Beleive me, insurers (managed care especially) love their money and will try to guide utilization as best they can. Copays are one way to offset risk.

Not slamming your post, but am saying that deciding which meds to add to formularies is more than a clean sweep.

Does anyone know if regular health insurance covers this??

Depends on what your employer will pay for. Your boss' select the amount of coverage based on what they are willing to pay. Insurers provide a formulary (list of drugs) that falls in line with what you are paying. So you might get coverage for VIagra from your company of 3,000 people and lots of revenue, but your neighbor who works for a company with 50 people probably will not.

I wasn't sure if reg. insurance covered E.D. drugs. .. I know I am glad I have co-pays for antihistamines and hormones cuz I'd hate to be a sneezy woman with hot flashes!!!! :yikes:

Medicare Benefit Will Cover Viagara
Sexual performance drugs like Viagra will be covered by Medicare's new prescription benefit beginning next year, along with medications for other conditions like high blood pressure and heart disease, Health and Human Services officials said Tuesday.

And here is a link to tthe list of all drugs Medicare Part D benefits should cover. Viagra is called sildenafil, and can be found under impotence agents, with three others. (Sorry guys, I cover this policy crap for a living and get fired up over it!)

More money is spent on Viagra and breast implants than we spend on Alzheimer's research. In 2040 there will be a bunch of old timers with perky boobs and big woody's but with absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

OK- this really bugs the crap out of me since Anthem doesn't pay for birth control pills- AND (under Davis Vision) it doesn't even pay for contacts or glasses either-just the exam!! They'll pay to tell me that I can't see $hit-but that's all.
Well I guess they don't want me to see how old and goofy the guy with wood is.
