I understand your position on the aftermath of hurricane Katrina totally! Looting isn't right, but the people of New Orleans need the necessities of life, even if they have to break the law. A good example is this:

"Other survivors recounted horrific cases of sexual assault and murder. Sitting with her daughter and other relatives, Trolkyn Joseph, 37, said men had wandered the cavernous convention center in recent nights raping and murdering children. She said she found a dead 14-year old girl at 5 am on Friday morning, four hours after the young girl went missing from her parents inside the convention center. ''She was raped for four hours until she was dead,'' Joseph said through tears. ''Another child, a seven-year-old boy was found raped and murdered in the kitchen freezer last night.'' Several others told similar stories of the abuse and murder of children."

Rwanda, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Haiti, New Orleans.

 You understood Qpids position? I didn't take her position like that at all. Her position, as I took it, was completely racist. Anything was excusable because they were poor downtrodden black people. PERIOD.

For your example of reasons to break the law, you cite cases of rape and murder....are you serious?

I am not even going to comment on the rapes and murders, that is just horrible and unexcusable...

BUT there is a difference between people getting the necessities of life and taking 15 TV's and 12 pair of shoes.....

What are you trying to say? That it's okay to rape and murder to survive?

no, No, NO!!!

Has sarcasm reached our shores yet?

I completely understand the looting of food, water, medical supplies and clothing from retail establishments. Heck, even take the TVs and Playstations from the stores. But looting from the residences of those who have evacuated is a no-no. Breaking in and robbing people at gunpoint is a CRIME.

What disturbs me the most is the senseless violence as I described. It is humankind at its worst, and it is reminiscent of the civil unrest in the third world countries I listed.

I addressed this to Qpid because I don't agree that everything is Bush's fault as she does. Southern Louisiana is one of the poorest places I have ever seen. Between the poverty, lack of education, and voodoo it is scary dangerous on a good day. It is where America 'dumped' her slave population and pretty much left them behind. There is plenty of blame to be spread around to every administration since Lincoln.

Where else have US military trying to help been shot at? Somalia and Haiti. We have created a third world country within the US. But that took 140 years since abolition. And it's going to take some time to set things right. Hopefully this terrible tragedy will be the catalyst to rebuild the area and welcome those people into a 21st century America.

Why do you think they had to give us this -----> :sarcasm:
:ohwell:

:sarcasm: sign is a good thing. If we know the person fairly well we can figure out if they're serious or not. Unfortunately some people post crazy things but since we don't know them we don't know if they're being sarcastic or being stupid.

How many different ways can you interpret that? One way, a stupid person agreeing with a stupid person. I see no :sarcasm:

This is different than Qpids position?

That sounded like something Qpid would warp into a racial problem. Little did I know we were playing Jeopardy.

Brush up on you sarcasm skills.
