MetroCast have the monopoly on cable internet?

We are moving and I wouldn't mind trying someone else. We are in Lexington Park and I don't know what options I have. I need cable internet as I telework so DSL is not an option. What other options do I have? I don't think Verizon or Comcast service this area. I also need tv and phone. I hate feeling like I don't have a choice. Thanks for any advice...

Sorry, you're out of luck. It's either MetroCast Cable, DSL, or dial up internet.

I feel your pain.....

Can't you use your internet bill as a tax deductible because it is work related expense?

DSL is no different than cable, but speeds are limited to about 1 Mb/s. In more urban areas it's 3 Mb/s.

Why doesn't DSL work for you?

Did you check speed you can get with Verizon? They push 1 MB, but we can get 3 MB in Leonardtown area. I know some people claim they get 7 MB.

I've got Verizon DSL, live in California, never had it go out and never been able to do anything that slowed it. I mean, even with 2 comps running off of it and an X-Box streaming a movie I didn't see a difference in performance. Don't really know what your work involves but I can't imagine anything on a single comp that could slow the DSL down. But, like I said I live in California. When I was in the park my DSL was hit or miss.

They apparently don't service my address...I checked and also confirmed through their live chat. Thanks for the option, though.

If you can, try and figure out whether or not the people that lived there before you had DSL. They told me the same thing when I called about this place, 'not eligible'. It took me a week of arguing with them but they finally set it up and it works great. Idiots didn't believe that the people that had moved out not 24 hours before I moved in used their service. They had to do some sort of override.
