They never checked to see if I had service, they just collected the receivers and took them with them..

at installation? or did you have to notify them before hand when you called to set it up? Just the receivers and not the dish?

I mentioned the trade when I called, and when they came to install they just collected the box.. and yes, the antenna is still on the house.

Matter of fact, we have like 3 or four more DTV boxes if anyone else maybe interested..

I get $20 a month discount for DirecTV and $10 for DirecWAY.

when we called and mentioned them the lady said we had to have ended the service within the last month. (which it says nothing of the sort on the website- so I was just curious).

I just emailed them this morning about their offering of internet only service. Here is the reply I got back:

It is not necessary to have cable to have internet service at this time; however, without any cable service there is a $ 10.00 access fee added to the account per mo.

Just to update you on our services, we have just added VOD, video on demand, to your services which allows you to choose from a library of movies, events and programming much at no cost to you. We also have high-definition and DVR's(similar to TIVO)available in your area.

If there's anything we can help you with, please let us know.

Thanks for contacting MetroCast.

so they're still gouging new customers it appears.

Never deal with the local office, it seems I get the most satisfaction and better customer service when I deal with the office in PA.
The two times I've dealt with the local offices it was the same moron that was no help whatsoever.

**or would a female moron be a moronica??

When I switched to metro cast I just bout the cheapest direct TV receiver I could find off of ebay. It cost me 10 bucks shipped. I don't even know if it worked or not. Then just gave that to the installer. To receive the credit. I wasn't about to trade in my Direct Tivo with lifetime subscription. I soon found out that even with the 30 credit a month Direct TV was still a better deal.

We are talking strictly cable modem for Internet service, not TV. :wench:

I thought we talked this over about a year and a half ago?

GMP, at the time, was charging you basic, and then extended basic TV service, before they would let you piggyback their cable internet service in a package.

It came to $82.00 per month at that time, which is why I waited until DSL became available, right around the 1st of Sept, last year(my locale.)

Bastages have been ripping people off until just recently. I get billed $29.95 per month for service between 2.2 and 3 megs speeds.
4 megs, or 5 megs - they can keep it. They want $40.00 a month, and they never will get me on their service.

I didn't call the main office just the local one, thanks for the tip.

Sadly we don't have DSL in our area or we would go with that instead.

Another thing that bugs me about them is that you still can't pay online. It's been over a year since they changed to Metrocast but they still haven't given St. Mary's people new account numbers.
