The food we had at Mexico was bland, Americanized, and boring. The margaritas were watered down and made with some crappy mix. The salsa had no flavor. At least at Monterey they know how to make an -ok- margarita (although nothing special) and the salsa and guac are decent. Although I am the first to admit I don't go there much either. I get my tex-mex fix up in DC and Alexandria during the week. We also make better stuff than most places turn out anyway. Our carnitas and guac are top shelf. Plus you can make your own margarita mix without the corn syrup crap.

I agree... the food is bland and boring and Amercanized. But it is better than most in this area. Most of your local Mexican food places here in Maryland are going to taste like that! It's all about making the dollar stretch more and so you're going to get poor quality of food. Where in DC do you go? Would love to find something a bit more Tex-Mex.

Honestly, DC doesn't have great tex-mex either for the most part. Generally though, the ingredients are higher quality and fresher than what I've found down here. In Alexandria, we will go to the Austin Grill, Los Tios (in Del Ray) and Taqerio Poblano (Del Ray). All are very different from each other. Taquerio Poblano seems to have the most ups and downs. Los Tios lost a step when they expanded. Austin Grill (in Old Town) isn't amazing, but generally reliable. I think I'm spoiled after my visit to Austin last year.

Great Thank you! I'll have to try those places. Yes there is a big difference from Texas to here! Or even any of the Southwest states that border Mexico. New Mexico also has great mexican food! OH... to be back home! I sure do miss it!

I bet Texas and NM has awesome Tex mex food. MAN!!! You suck! LOL There is a place in DC That was off the hook with their mexican food, Cactus Cantina! it is located on Wisconsin Ave.

We had a late lunch here today. I was VERY impressed. Great service and great food. It was pretty busy and I was shocked when they brough our food out so quickly. My kids were amazed that they waiter could carry so many plates at once :lmao:

My family and I ate at the Mexico Restaurant in Lusby this Saturday; same good food and service as the one in Huntingtown.

GROSS!!!!!!!!!!! Monterey - Mexico.......its all just nasty, nasty!

Grew up in San Diego.......nothing compares to La Pinata in Old Towne! Ate at Mexico the other night......the "beef" taco's tasted really weird and was nothing but a tortilla and some weird "meat-ish" filling.

:lol: It always makes me laugh to hear how some love Mexico and others hate and vice versa for Monterey. My brother swears by Chipolte and I was telling him just last night about how most people here love Moes and he says they are all crazy.

My brother ended up going to Mexico last night and wasn't impressed. Said his shrimp was very dry and I had lunch there yesterday and liked it.
