Kwesi Mfume is a good member of the House of Representatives, but his leadership style is not suitable for the United States Senate if you ask me. That body is meant for stately characters and I think that his type (which includes Barbara Milkulski and Rick Santorum) will not fit in.

I am not sure that he would win the Democratic primary, but I think that he could provoke a victory in the general if he made it through.

Kweisi Mfume should remain a lobbyist for the black community and not a lawmaker. His primary concern is affirmative action and the USA welfare is secondary.

I like how the Baltimore Sun runs a front page story of Mfume announcing for the Senate seat while burying Dutch Ruppersberger's decision to form an exploratory committee in the back pages of the Maryland section...talk about fairness.

Ambasador Keyes

There is only one man who can restore honor and dignity to the position of Senator representing Maryland, and that man is Amb. Alan Keyes. I have it on good authority that Dr. Keyes is considering the formation of an exploritory committee. I believe that Amb. Keyes could lead Maryland back to moral righteousness.

Renewal in Maryland with Amb. Keyes

The only thing stopping Amb. Keyes from becoming Maryland's Senator is whether or not he decides to run or not. His name recognition and unmatched oratory skills will carry him to overwhelming victory if he so chooses to run. His grassroots base of support is strong and the only outside factor will be whether or not the Amb. Keyes has Presidential ambitions in 2008.

Hmm looks like we have a Keyes operative in our ranks...might as well come out and say it. I'm not sure why ANYONE would take him seriously when he ran for office. Let us consider this...two presidential runs: no primary or caucus victories. Several runs for elective office, each time resulting in overwhelming defeat. Yeah the only thing holding him back is if he wants to run or not.

And Mfume will have to explain why the NAACP is now being audited by the Federal government for activities resulting from his tenure.

Lenny, I haven't heard that part of Mfume's past...interesting. I'm sure his five children born out of wedlock will play well with middle class voters too.

Not the best candidate for the Democratic Party.

Rraley...hold on a minute

*If Bill Clinton's fishies were as successful as Mfumes...he would have had just as many illegit kids scattered throughout the USA.
This was a winning idea with the Dems...only mild embarrassment of the "personal" side of his life.

Mfume is just proving he's got the Clinton technique down...except there is more proof than a stained dress. This is a badge of honor isn't it?

. . .with that crowd it is. "Who's gonna be my baby's daddy?" is one of the most requested songs on the radio in that bunch.

Sorry, the NAACP claims it dates from Julian Bond's tenure.

I think Mifune would make a great Senator. Who can forget his great performance opposite Lee Marvin in "Hell in the Pacific", or his work in such Kurosawa classics as "The Seven Samurai" and "Rashomon"...
