Of course it's *political*. He's not asking for money to donate to research. He's asking for you to vote for a candidate during an election season. Frankly, when it comes to Maryland and Steele, he's just wrong.
Rush should not have ridiculed him, because it doesn't matter if he didn't take his medication. MJF was right to mention that the effects of the disease are the reality, and the calmer, more controlled MJF is the "act". But he's mistaken about a number of other things, one of which is where Steele and Cardin are on this issue.
The other is what we've been over repeatedly on this forum. He, like others, are trying to paint those who oppose federal funding of the creation of new lines of embryonic stem cells as though they were opposed to all stem cell research, whether publicly or privately funded. They suggest there's some kind of "ban" in place, and no such animal exists. People are free to fund this however they want - just don't ask Uncle Sam to foot the bill.
And as I said last week - the groundwork for existing legislation on this matter was laid years ago, in the 90's.
It's wrong to suggest that those who oppose federal funding for ESC are somehow perpetuating the suffering of those with Parkinson's. It's just flatly wrong, and the research thus far has proven to be ineffective.
