Michael Steele responds about stolen Credit Report

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Today, Lt. Gov. Michael Steele released the following statement in response to Friday’s hearing on the theft of his credit report:

“After reviewing the court documents from Friday’s hearing, I am saddened that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee appears to be offering up a young staffer to bear all the consequences for actions she undertook at the behest of DSCC senior staff. The Statement of Offense reveals that my family’s privacy was invaded at the direction and instruction of one of Chuck Schumer’s senior DSCC staffers and paid for with an official DSCC credit card.

“Many questions in this matter remain to be answered and the reluctance of Senator Schumer and the DSCC to stand up and be accountable is very troubling.”

That's what I figured would happen, the moment this all hit the fan - they'd find some poor schmuck to be the scapegoat, and that person would publicly admit to being the sole culprit. And that would bury everything. Not surprised. Glad Michael Steele isn't surprised either. I like him.

He did it! We're deporting him! We take ethics and the law seriously!

I understand Steele is contempating a lawsuit against the DSCC. He says his intention would be to use the discovery process to see what evidence there might be that it was orchestrated by someone higher up than the sacrificial lamb.
Still, I just love the thought that all the money the DSCC raises this year will end up going to Steele and a bunch of lawyers instead of to Cardin and 32 other Democrats.
