Stop Staring!!!!!
Ended up buying two BMX bikes. Decided to hold for the oldest boy (turning 15 at the end of the month) Figured I would try to get a feel for what he might like, I am suspecting a Mountin Bike or a 10 speed of some sort.

Well all 3 Bike's are bought. I was SHOCKED. I spent a pretty penny on the first 20" BMX bikes. Figured I would buy to last.

Went back the next day, not looking forward to it, because the oldest has been leaning more toward the mountain/trail bikes. I figured as much as I spent on the BMX Bikes, the Moutain/Trail Bikes were going to cost about twice as much. I just about fell over when we got to looking at them and realized the mountain/trail bikes were going to run just about the same price as the BMX I bought.

Heck the one BMX bike's was $500 and he knocked off a hundred. The Mountain/Trail bike was about $400.

I am unfamiliar with these bikes nowadays. This little BMX is apparently a good one, VERY BEEFY, and should last quite a while. But I am still a little confused about the whole thing. Hard to belive that little BMX cost the same as a FUJI Moutain Bike.

The one negative I had about the whole thing was he doesn't provide the paperwork associated with the Bike's. Like owners manuals and such. Be nice to have a hard copy of those to explain, in detail how to make minor adjustemtns as needed. For someone like me who is not a hard core bike enthusiast it would have been a nice plus. But as he offers to make any adjustments for the life of the Bike I can;t complain.

I'm thinking you could get that from the manufacturer's web site, if they are brand name.

The kids have already had a couple of bikes stolen from them in the past from the X's house.

So I think before I let them take them I am going to snap a few pics of them, try to find and note the serial numbers and make/model and maybe even break out the dremel tool and put my name and number on them.

The bike's are in the shed.

Questions
Where are the serial numbers on bike's geneally located?

Where would the best place be to scribe a name and phone number? I was thinking under the seat. But where would a cop most likely be able to find this if he happened to find it and check for it?

I guess scribing on the frame somewhere would be better.

And I have seen you on a 20" bike. Umm. You are likely not going to get too far down the road before the cops find you.

Usually either on the crank housing or the steering head. Get them locks too.
PS $400 for a mountain bike is not that much. :killingme

My father used to flip the bike over and put it on the bottom of the frame, right under where the chain goes (whatever part that is). He also did it on the sprocket (sp) FYI, it helped in locating two stolen bikes.

I live in St. Mary's but the boys live in Calvert, Drum Point area. When I get this newfangled camera working I plan on taking some pics of them and getting the numbers off to try to register.

They have already had a couple of bikes stolen from their yard in Calvert so I need to look into this. These things are a bit pricey for my tastes so I figured might be well worth the effort.
