I don't know what his rank is, but I certainly thing it is worth a try. We really like living here and all of our neighbors, officer and enlisted are great.

What rank was the enlisted family? In our experience, though we qualify for the housing behind target as E-7, they specifically told us they were only allowing officers to move in there. I can see them making an exception for an E-8/E-9, but if you think we can get into that housing, I'd certainly try again.

Still waiting..But I will only take Wildewood...Been here 4 months and we are still #4 for a 4 bedroom house. From what I understand E-7 and up can still get a single family home but they offer it to Officers first so you will be waiting a very long time for a house..No exceptions for E-8 and E-9..Which makes no sence because E-9's cant live on base. Guess it is no biggie in the long run because you have to sign a 12 month lease and cant break it here for housing anyway.

We just got new neighbors (we live in the housing behind Target) and they waited maybe a month. Also, about two months ago on the other side of us an Enlisted family moved in (on a street which is supposed to be reserved for Officers only). What I am saying is that is what is true one week may not be the next with the housing office. Be persistant and polite and you will get in a house.

They are probably getting in there faster because of the school district. Great Mills High School. The lady in at the housing office said many people are putting Wildewood only.

Just thought I'd pop on here & reply for anyone else on their way to PAX.
We called for base housing to be olaced on the list, filled out the paperwork & faxed it to the office. A few hours later we were offered a house on base. There appears to be no wait right now.
The housing is called Lovell Cove..????

Update after living here for 8 months

Carpenter Park- very pretty houses on the outside, we lived in one for 8 months. The yard / play space is the best available in housing here. SOME of the units have problems with mold because of their age. They have a very historic feel about them, we had a bit too much stuff for them since we needed to use the extra living area as a dining room and school room. Really great community for the kids.

Wildewood - very nice homes and location is the best since they are near the better part of town and hidden in the woods a little too. Hard to get into unless you are E6 or above

Glen Forest - They are ok, I have not been inside but the outside community looks ok, free pool is a big plus, BTW all housing residents (not just Glen Forest) are able to use this pool free of charge

Lovell Cove - Beautiful brand new housing, little to no yard / play space. We just moved here, LOVE the house but the kids lost freedom of outdoor play when we left Carpenter Park. I believe we were told they were all full / spoken for, but you never know.

About the schools, people tend to try and keep their kids out of Lexington Park Elementary School if there is a choice. We home-school our kids, the school systems here seem to really be struggling, so it was not an issue. I know that Lovell residents do not go to Lexington Park but Carpenter Park does.

That would be the trailer park on base.

But the new ones are double wides.

I meant double highs.

Dont listen to him, he's messing with you. Folks on here are like that, but very few in a mean way:buddies: Lovell is actually the newest housing there is.

Some of the floorplans, I'm not sure which ones are applicable.

I dont know, depends on the parents and the kids, I suppose, my two, both of whom went to Lex Park from kindergarten on are doing just fine. Girls entering 10th, taking two languages and honors courses in everything else. Boys going into 8th, and taking geometry in addition to honors level classes all around. So, to think your children cannot get a good education in these schools is just not accurate.

Sorry I didn't mean to offend. I am just relaying what other parents have expressed to me. It's not really a issue with us because we chose to teach our kids at home before moving here.

Tina--We're moving to Pax and should be there in a couple weeks. I'd be happy to take some pictures of the Lovell Court (or Cove, I've heard it called both, lol) housing when we get there! Housing said it's exactly the same as Challenger Estates and there are 3 and 4 bedroom units, brand new. We wanted to live off base but they are reserving those for Officers for the most part, so we'll probably end up in Lovell.

Wondering if you could possibly do the same for me :flowers:

Not offended, just trying to set the record straight, as opposed the "gouge" that replaces real knowledge of a thing. I would venture to say most of those expressing such have no direct experience, they are just passing along things told to them by others who have no experience with the school in question.

I do want to add, both of my kids, who have attended the so called "bad schools", have never had problems making friends who are like them, usual children of military families, which makes sense, seeing as I served 12 years active, 8 reserve, and have been associated with Sailors and Marines ever since in my civilian jobs, and they have a lot in common with those kids:)

Awesome information. Thank You!!!
Question, why did you move from Carpenter park?
OK, more questions ... Lovell Cove, no yard? Anything on the side?
How many units together? Can a trampoline go in the yard at least, even if it's the only thing in it? Are they fenced in?
How about the size inside the house? We have 5 children, 3 of whom have to share a room. The 18yr old is too old to share and the 4yr old is our only girl.
Bedroom big?
If my questions are annoying, I'm sorry!
We were offered Lovell Cove, should we ask for a different housing area because of how much sqft we need inside...? Just an opinion question.

Don't give out personal info on the internet, especially this forum. These people (forumites) save this $hit to their hard drives.

Never really thought of it that way, the rank thing.
I just kept seeing what rank can live here or live there... figured it would help with telling me which housing is better..
Thank you, going to try and fix my post!

Deleted my info... but I can't delete your quote of my info...

There are a couple of single unit, single floor homes but I believe they are for families with special needs. Most of the homes are either 3 combined or 2 combined. The walls are thick enough that sound does not seem to travel from one home to the other. All of the homes that are 2 units connected have nice front porches. The homes that are 3 connected have 2 homes with front porches, the home in the middle does not have a porch. None of the front yards are fenced in but all of the back yards are fenced in. I should have mentioned this in the previous post, the homes come with a good size garage. Some homes have space on the side of the home, but you have to keep in mind that the neighborhood kids see this area as a public play area so I wouldn't put a trampoline over there, I'm not sure if you would even be allowed to.
It depends on which house you get as far as the back yard. Some have a good size yard and you could squeeze a trampoline in there, but not much else. All of the homes have a small cement back porch that are about the same size, but sadly some of the homes have little grass space. Some of the houses have almost a drop off / hill as soon as the cement back porch ends. They built those houses much higher than the garages, which are on the other side of the back yard so the drop of from the home to the back of the yard is going to be a challenge to even mow, and nothing bigger than a sand box will fit back there. It really just depends on which house you get.
As far as space in the home, from what I have seen this is the biggest you will find. We have the a 4 bedroom and the rooms are much more spacious than Carpenter Park. The master is a very nice size, the 2nd largest is not too much smaller and could accommodate 3 beds. I have not seen the inside of any homes except Carpenter and Lovell for myself, but housing told us these are the largest.
We have a child with asthma and were concerned about the possibility of the older home causing his asthma to get worse. He had begun having problems after moving here. Now understand, that may have been a coincidence, we NEVER found mold in our home and even did a home mold test that came back with only normal molds present in the air. Housing also had our vents cleaned when we discussed our concerns with them. Since we had been here long enough to request a move they went ahead and allowed us to move into the new homes just for peace of mind and the extra space is NICE.
We need a room dedicated to school and with this home we are able to do that. The garage offers all the storage space you need, plus this home has lots of storage space inside.

New Housing

Thank you so much. Do you know the name of the new housing? I have looked on Lincoln Military Housing website, but I'm not sure which one you are talking about. Also, do you know if it they are 4 bedroom houses? We have 5 children (from his previous relationship & our marraige), but only 3 live with us, so we can't have anything smaller than 4 bedrooms. Am I right in thinking they don't have any houses bigger than 4 bedrooms? I don't care for townhouses, but I know that is what you get in military housing, at least while you are still enlisted, how easy was it to buy a house there? We will only be there 3 years, would it be too big of a risk to buy a home? My husband is filling out the forms now to get us on the list, he is just waiting for me to decide which community we want. Also, if he puts it as "temporary" can we change our minds later? I know that was a lot of questions from one stranger to another, I just haven't lived on base housing in 3 1/2 years and can't remember how it all works. Thank you again for all your help!

The new housing is Lovell Cove, it is not listed on Lincolns site yet.

In Lovell Cove it pretty much depends of which house you'll get. Some have decent size yards and some very small, but most times you don't get to pick a unit. So it's kind of the luck of the draw. Trampoline? I doubt it. The back yards are all fenced in and all houses have a 2 car detached garage in the back and a small driveway. The master bedroom is a decent size, but the other bedrooms are smallish.
There is another community off base (Glenn Forest) that may have available units. I don't know if those are any bigger. That community is older, but it's been renovated and it's very nice on the inside. They also have a brand new swimming pool. Lovell Cove doesn't have a pool. Their yards are very small though from what I have seen.
Challenger Estates off base is similar to Lovell Cove, but the houses there are single family and with nicer finishes. Everybody would like to live there, so there is a huge waiting list, plus I've heard that it's mostly reserved for officers.
