This nonsense with Ukraine has long reminded me how Washington called for avoiding permanent alliances and foreign entanglements, and the need to prioritize American interests.

we need to get back to that
Get back to it?? Since when have we EVER done any of that?

Of course the naysayers will protest that Trump is making them pay for aid. Those very same demonrat naysayers are used to getting something for nothing. Having to return value on the taxpayers investment is beyond comprehension for their feeble little minds.

To keep one of our greatest enemies from destroying their country and allowing them to capture independent nations unchecked.
Our greatest enemy? We'd be speaking German right now without them.

They wouldn't have "destroyed the country" if the international community didn't see this as an opportunity to get rich and increase both the severity and longevity of the fighting. And it's not our job to police which former Soviet republics are or are not part of Russia this week.

Be realistic, it's not a critical military asset for the west (oh no, we only have 14-15 other bordering countries or like 30+ within cruise missile range). And nobody cares if Belarus, Moldova, or Transnistria are next, our strategic borat mustache reserve can keep us afloat.

To be fair, Washington was talking about France using fluffy political speech, and we followed that advice for like a hundred freakin years.

It's not about Ukraine per se. It's about letting Russia know they can't jsut take over independent countries whenever they want. If we let them have Ukraine they will move on to the next country and try to take it over.

Just because they are former republics doesn't mean Russia can do what it wants whenever it wants.

Why are you scared of standing up to Putin?

I'm too old to go to war, so I am not particularly scared of "standing up to Putin". I assume you are similarly not directly impacted by our military engagements due to current policy changes that remove your hormone therapy from covered medical expenses.
