Minimum for credit card purchase

It cost my company .25999 for each transaction plus the % and monthly fee for having it.

So anything with a cost of less than say $5 you'd be selling at a LOSS.. and anything less than say $10 or 20 you'd be selling at a much reduced profit margin..

Most people won't do debit purchases, because than the cost is borne by the customer not the business.

Just FYI...

Using a debit card transfers the cost from busniess to customer..

I don't see any increase in costs. Where is it? The only time I pay a fee for using my debit card is when I go to an ATM that charges a fee. I don't get a charge for using it at stores, so I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

WHY do you need a link when you have small business owner ONLINE in the forum telling you EXACTLY how much they pay??

Is wiki a better resource than the actual business owner??

Maybe she wanted to get more info than just from 1 small business owner?

Remax listed "sales receipts" - how is that a valid source? There is no breakdown for the costs, just random numbers posted.

Last I counted there were three in here explaining their costs..

Maybe math is an issue and that's why you don't see the business owners point of view?

Maybe I'm not the one with an issue. I don't see why you're getting your panties in a twist over Chasey wanting more info. :cds:

Do you two really think merchants are chosing to do this on a whim just to be silly? Why are you vehemently doubting the obvious...

There's #2...

Admit defeat, move on to the next debate.
So far I've seen different amounts for each business owner. I really don't care what the fees are. I'm trying to understand what they are, how they are applied, etc. Unfortunately the numbers are different, so I'm not grasping a good understanding.

 The post of mine you quoted was me asking Bob where the fees are that he insists debit card holders are getting. I use my debit all the time, and I never get any additional fees (except for ATMs, like I said).

Maybe. I use my debit card for just about everything, and there are never any fees on my statement for any transaction, excluding 3rd party ATM machines.

I have PNC and I do not get charged for using my card as a debit. I do know that some customers say that their bank charges them.

Dang it, you amde me pull out a statement
.04466 is the percentage rate we are charged, we don't do a lot of transaction so we do pay a higher fee than most

The amounts will be different. It depends on your contract with you specific credit card company. I know that my old machine charged all the fees plus 2.9%. My new one is less.

I don't intend on posting my actual numbers because I dont' feel the need to share that with internet.

My favorite Chinese restaurant had this rule too. Nothing can be done though. You can report them, but they can refuse you. Its just a game and in the end everyone loses.

My info cam from the internet, so it HAS to be right.. the 4, 5 or 100 people in here posting they don't get charged are WRONG!!

Thank you, this is the information I was looking for. All of my Google searches were pointing me to the same data.
