Miserable, rainy morning…

I went out about 7 am to plant vinca in my front flower bed. Just in time for the rain to water them for me.

Boric acid too. They like it and bring it back to the nest.

Yes, the sugar attracts them, then the baking soda goes back to the nest to kill the rest. Safe for my little pup too.

Have had a couple days of light rain already and it looks to be like that for about a week longer. Temperature has been bouncy but NWS says it will be no higher than 70 until at least Friday with some lows in the 40s - loving it.

This was much needed but still not enough- only .11” at the farm this morning. I planted field corn last week so this will get it out of the ground. Would like to plant soybeans this week but may need more rain first.

Installing a window inverter a/c in the family room where I am most of the time. Plan is to be able to run the window unit and cut way back on the whole house. Window unit draws far less power and I should be able to run it off the backup power.

Problem is: it's a custom window, and the mount bracket doesn't fit properly. Even with the house a/c on, I'm dripping trying to get it set up and make brackets to fit it properly. Started raining again, so taking a break.

Well California is a different world.....

We had less than a tenth on May 1st and before that the last rain was April 15th. Yeah - we need more rain.

I had the big black carpenter ants, I use sugar and Borax,. they left, Hope I got them all.

I tried many things for ants but I really think the Fipronil products work the best. Use both protein and sugar baits.

The hardest thing is to leave the bait out and seeing the ants all over it and doing nothing but waiting. Resist the urge to clean it. The ants will go away.
