Thanks all. I've had no luck at this point. Made several calls and am in the process of putting out fliers. You thoughts and well wishes mean a lot to me.

good luck Dutch!! If you like I live north of you and can probably cover the area north and put fliers up. PM me if you want BF and I can meet you this weekend - grab a bunch of fliers for you and start putting them up ASAP!!! Its never too soon to put up fliers, versus it could always be too late. Maybe someone was driving by and picked her up and drove north or her collar fell off or something? Sometimes that's how they get loose and don't have a collar. Please let me know if you need any help in this... I can make time out of my weekend to help you get reunited with your dog. It woudl be my honor to help in any way I can. Lots of luck and most importantly prayers coming your way. Hang in there, this must be awefully hard time for you right now. :huggy:

Is she an old dog? Scour the roadsides..I know that sounds awful but dogs that are lost or confused will go to the sound of traffic. Call all the vets in the area..ask about injured dogs as well. Definitely put up fliers. Check with the local fire stations. Go to playgrounds...day camps...ask kids, take a picture with you.

Good luck.
Catt I know you mean well as most of your advice above is all good. But I will have to disagree with him going to playgrounds, daycamps, etc with a picture of his dog. Most kids today are taught to stay away from guys with the line of I have lost my dog would you help me look for it. Maybe I am just being to paranoid

I'm sure Dutch would discuss this with the teacher first and then put a flier up in the classroom or something... not quite grabbing kids throwing them in the car and demanding they look at a flier.
Seriously Dutch, Catt is correct - kids are a great idea when Sage disappeared, I put up a substantial reward and had all the kids in the neighborhood looking for her for the reweard $$... they checked the woods and everywhere and even got their parents involved... they were excellent helpers in footwork and looking everywhere for reward money.

I didn't say grabbing them throwing them in the car.... nevermind... whatever.. difference is the male vs the female and different reception they may recieve on a playground. I was thinking public park setting, and all children who have been taught about all the tricks that abductors use to lure them in the car. Yes the dog photo is one of the tricks used. Nevermind... was just my opinion...
I still hope you find your dog dutch!

No you made an excellent point, its not a black or white issue, and there are safer ways to go about getting kids help, such as involving a teacher and thats why I suggested such.

There's a difference in neighborhood kids and any old kid playing on a playground. If some strange guy came up to my kids and asked them to help find his dog; first I'd beat him-then call the cops :yay:

I didn't even think about that. If the kids don't talk to him, fine. If it was my dog that was lost, I ask anyone and everyone. If he's not out to "get" little kids, I don't see the problem.

Thanks all. I wouldn't approach any children in that way because I wouldn't want my child approached in that manner. I have several directions I'm going right now. I just hope I hit the right one. I really appreciate everyones well wishes. :huggy:

Guess I'm weird. I lost my bird a few months ago. I took his picture and went door to door in the community near where I live, but not my community. I approached kids and adults alike. I was surprised at the outpouring of people who wanted to help.

Good luck.

I wouldn't cross that idea off completely, maybe if there's a teacher around at the day camp or playground she can be the liason. Most people and kids are eager to help, not everyone is out to get kids and there really are people out there with lost dogs.

That was kinda what I was getting at with the day camp idea and the fact that if the dog likes kids, she may be hanging around them.

I thought you made an excellent point, but I guess some people just saw it as a black or white issue and would assume Dutch would just going running up to any and all kids on a play ground or day camp whatever, that he could until the cops were called in or something. I guess we just gave Dutch credit for having common sense  I didn't think the idea needed to be plotted out detailed step by detailed step, but then I saw some people thought it shoudl have so I mentioned getting an adults (a teacher's) help in getting the kids involved.

Another person to check with in regards to lost pets is the mail carrier. Don't call the post office - the carrier rarely gets messages - leave a detailed description and photos in your mailbox with a phone number where someone who can answer is. I'm a carrier in the Waldorf area and have been able to help some of my customers find there lost pets. I've had a lost dog in my LLV and not been able to reach homeowners by phone as they were out searching. Also, let the carrier know if there is a certain name or whistle the dog will respond to. Check with the carrier after a day or two by a second note to let them know the dog is still missing - the regular carrier may have been off and had a sub delivering. Also let the carrier know if you've found the annimal. I've "found" a pet a few days after seeing a flyer only to be told Fido was already home! Hope this helps!
