Mom says she couldn't nurse on plane

I have heard stories where some mom's breast-fed up to the age of 5. Because they couldn't handle the fact that their kids were growing up.

Some cultures breast feed until 24 months. Some longer. I only did for 9 months. It was good for the kids, and easier for me.

yeah...it's kinda sick when the kid walks over to Mom and unbuttons her blouse.
We had a neighbor (20 years ago) who's 3 year old would do that:faint:

We even saw a woman breastfeeding a 4 year old in Walmart once. It was just so odd looking! :twitch:

Just because some of us find it odd, doesn't mean it is. If the kids still in diapers, what's the problem with it still nursing, whether it's breast feeding or bottle feeding. I've always thought it was odd to see a 2 or 3 year old walking around with a bottle in it's mouth, but no one would blink an eye at that. As long as she was being discreet, the airlines were out of line.

I agree that they were out of line, especially since she was discreet. I just think that 22 months is a long time to still breast feed, but that is just me. I tossed all bottles when Bug turned 1 and she graduated to sippy cups.

I agree, but just because it's what we do doesn't mean everyone has to. Gurl was off the bottle by 1 as well.

I traveled on a plane when my son was 3 wks old. My pediatrician actually suggested I hold off feeding as long as possible so he COULD nurse on the plane. That way he would be swallowing and would be easier on his ears. Worked like a charm. He suckled himself right to sleep and made the flight a pleasant experience for everyone. :yay:

I am so very blessed
I don't see a problem with breastfeeding a 22-month old. Would I do it? No. But obviously it works for some families. And it was certainly wrong for the airlines to restrict access to her flight, particularly since she was being discreet. I should have breastfed longer, considering how expensive formula is and the hassle of cleaning bottles, having available water, etc., especially while traveling.

My daughters first flight was to California when she was five months old. I bottle fed her when taking off and landing. The breastfeeding thing didn't work out well for me.

The "binky" also bugs me.
I see kids, ( 2 & 3 year olds ) all the time, with a binky. It makes me sick. I think the parents need a :buttkick:

1 year for the bottle and 18 months on the binky.

Sounds like someone had their "binky" taken away early...
