No, didn't sound like they were trying to sell anything. Yes, it was free. Just came in the mail. I didn't request it or have never seen anything like it..

I got one too, AND I was at an higher usage than my neighbor. Everyone who gets the letter is at an higher usage then "the neighbor".

Lot of the flush is water pressure, not volume of water. This says 10 gallons a day saved, 1/2 gallon per flush.

Brick in Toilet Saves Water - Bottle in Toilet Water Conservation Tip - The Daily Green

This was a bigger deal back when we had real toilets, the Fed says we can only have 1.6G flushes now vs the old 5.5-7G per flushers.

Don't know of anyone around here on city water that pays a water bill..

I don't WANT to save my water.. I don't WANT whimpy showers.. I WANT to use 5 GPM in a single shower head.. and 15 - 20 gallons per power flush..

Government recently fined a maker of shower heads because their shower head actually used one gallon more a minute than what is allowed by law.. REALLY??? Un-friggin believable. I could KIND of understand this in places like NYC, Chicago, or Philadelphia.. where the city provides the water, and it's a HUGE tasking to do so.. But why should I, on a well, with my own well pump be caught under the same net as those that choose to live in the big cities??

I don't disagree.

I'm in La Plata and my water/trash bill from the town runs around $600 every quarter. I like green grass and my lawn sprinkers cause most of that. The town charges sewage on yard watering, sewage is a higher price per gallon than water is but is based on ones water usage.

That is why you get a separate meter for outside faucets and sprinklers.

:nono: Because even though you own the land and you own the well, Obama owns your water and he thinks others are more deserving of that water so he gives it to them. :cds:

uh.... I mean... :huggy: Everything is going to be ok.

A lot of good ideas. We got same EMAIL, probably only sent to "high users". Interesting, since we have a geo-thermal heat pump. Own Well and septic.

Some things you cannot change. Have a Hi-eff clothes washer, so must use Hi-Eff liguid detergent. Getting more choices, but still limited. And car needs Premium.

House was built in 1996 using SMECO energy efficiency standard, but now no more cycling of hot water heater and Heat pump. I change filters on schedule.

Awesome!!!

When did La Plata start this program? I was told as recently as last year that they will not do this and do not have any plans to implement any programs such as this.

I will call tomorrow to sign up, thank you once again!!

In My Opinion
You all are fools

when I start to see that my money is going to run short,
I just open another line of credit and buy more stuff.

Its a well known way to save money, Feds have been doing it for years now.

Great Ideas and feedback everyone! My ideas in starting the thread were just to open the door. That makes alot of sense about the deductible.

I now "chase" the grocery store adds and stock up on the things we always use.
I have a foodsaver and buy in bulk when meats are on sale and seal and freeze everything.

I also buy most of my meats at Nicks in Prince Frederick when they are on sale...or Giant, sometimes Walmart.

Another idea is to check with your bank to make sure your not paying a service fee for your checking/savings acct. many ways to avoid that.

A credit union would be a better choice - mine doesn't charge me fees. (Cedar Point Federal Credit Union - and most anyone in the Tri-county area can join)
