More bad press for Best Buy

Something is odd here. I've bought a ton of stuff online at Best Buy and picked it up at the store, no problem. It says right on your order to take this form with you. Within about a week, BestBuy will send you a survey and mine are always very positive. My guess is that there are so many stupid shoppers out there that Best Buy concocted a web site to fleece the one's that can't follow simple instructions. I guess that's a little cruel. :killingme

Yeah, I am not sure about this web-site "scam" or whatever, it is news to me, I know however that BB is notorious for not handling problems they are responsible for, as in people who bought service contracts and then had problems with their new equipment.

That's awful. :frown: I have never bought anything from them online. I have made a lot of large purchases from their stores. I hate the one in Waldorf. i will never go there again. The one in california gets a :yay: from me.

Definitely. I went to the california one looking for a computer, they didn't have it in stock so I went to waldorf to give it a try, to took me 15 minutes to even get someone to look for the computer to see if it was in stock. I went back to the California store yesterday morning and this young guy helped me out, he was very informative, knew what he was talking about, wasn't trying to force feed me anything I didn't want, very straight up! :yay: :yay: Wish I had gotten his name, tell management to give him a raise or a bonus, it's hard to find good help these days.

Interesting website...I found this interesting post on there as well,
Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2007 17:09:12 -0500

I had purchaced a 65" Sony HDTV wide screen projection televition and a 4 year performance service protection plan in 2004. All sounds great right? Well now that I am having problems with the televition the warrenty doen't cover the problem I am having with it. Convenant for Best Buy and there so called PSP. I am getting two vertical black lines about 6 inches off of each end of the TV. I spent 2,600 dollors for this monster and 300 for the warrenty. I am told that it is called "BURN IN" and that isn't covered in the warrenty that they claim is in the discamier that I have failed to notice or see. I went to the Best Buy web site and read the warrenty information and I don't see that info anywhere. What I do see is Best Buy boasting that they will repair or replace the tv from normal wear and many other issues that may arise. I feel I have been ripped off and I have waisted 3,000 dollars from a place called Best Buy who don't give a rip about the customers. I believe they own me a new replacement or at least have this one fixed. If there is any help out there that will get my television fix or replaced please advise. By the way I will NEVER step foot in a Best Buy again.

However, I have the service plan in my hand, it says in print, heavier than the rest to stand out, that Burn In's are not covered...hmm go figure.

Either way there are going to be pro's and con's no matter what the place is. Personal Preference.

:boo: For some reason I can't stand to go to our local BB. Long lines all the time. You walk around trying to find help, which I find impossible if you're looking for something basic.:jameo: I will eventually give them one more try.

Good Point. Like I said though, I will give them another try and hopefully they will make me want to come back again  Is it just me, or is it that If you're not looking for a high dollar item help will avoid you. Do they get any type of commission

We've gone to BB quite a bit this year, product pricing or looking for items you can'f find elsewhere and so on and so on. We've made purchases and if we've encountered a problem, we've no problem replacing it.

One salesperson in particular, Victoria, helped us out on more than one occasion. She multi-tasked like a champ for just the two of us (ordering online Christmas present at one hub to keep it a secret, going to another hub to order another product and so on).

I do think they're overpriced, but that's what happens when you're the only store carrying specific electronics and such. BUT - just show them an ad from a circular or picture print (like from BJ's shelving), and they'll adjust the price to match it. I've even had one customer service rep pull WalMart's sale price for a movie I was buying off of the net and it was the same price. So, there you go. :yay:

I haven't had to use my warranties as of yet, and I hope I don't have to (I'm kind of skeered now).

But overall, we've had mostly pleasant experiences. Some sales folks are tards and some customers should just stay home and order online, containing their hate and maladjusted attitude. But, some sales folks are the bomb and some of their customer service reps actually know what they're doing and do it well.

So, that's my opinion.

Personally, I will drive out of the way to avoid Best Buy. If I can get something I need at Circuit City or elsewhere I will go there first. My experiences are numerous and I won't go into details. Just be careful. Read the fine print, save all of your paperwork and remember, with them, the customer is NOT always right, even if you are.

circuit city is only good in annapolis...i went to the one in waldorf looking at computers, and the sales people turned and walked away...and so did i...not going to spend my money there. they both suck really...but what choice do we have if not buying online

I dont mind the best buy, only reason i really go there is o get cd's and movies. Everything else is overpriced. The only place i cant stand is the car audio section theres one or two decent people in there who dont bs everything trying to make you spend 70 on something you can get from wally world that cost about 20. Last time i was in there i had some idiot telling that my setup (i was telling him what i was planning on doing with something i bought there) was crap, yet he didnt know the brand of sub, or amp, and he wouldnt stop talking about power acoustik and how good they are. Same goes with circuit city, i guess it doesnt help the employees out that i know alot more than 90% of them could ever know.

For big ticket items if http://www.newegg.com/ dosen't carry it I probably don't want it anyway.

they have a lot...but their customer service sucks...website not always up to date. I had bought an external dvd/cd drive, it was still available on the website, but after waiting for 2 weeks for it to show up, i e-mailed 3 times, and then called, finally got a hold of somebody, apparently the item was out of production, and nobody had informed me, but they had no problem charging my account.

just one of those days...
I hate the one in Waldorf. I have been trying for a month to get the DVD player in the car fixed but the guy that fixes them is never at work and no one else there can fix them. I am going to try again tomorrow and if they can't fix it I will just have to take it out myself and get my money back.
