I’m not a fan of wind power, but I’m also not hostile to the idea. That being said I just saw a story on a windmill with a set of laminated wood blades that would eliminate a huge concern. Now if the could get rid of the low frequency rumble and make them bird proof I would put up a whole shitload of them.

We've worked some with tide, wave action, and submerged water current power generation. There is a pilot project tide generation system up in New England - I've forgotten where exactly - but the key to its operation is the need for a fairly wide tide level change. The wave action generators have been built to pretty large scale for demonstration purposes - we were involved in one of those. As far as I know, it and other variations have all been destroyed by storms at some point. That last one...pretty cool and one that one of my colleagues spent a lot of time helping with the hydrodynamics. One of their biggest heachaches was how to exclude marine critters from going in to or through the turbine.
