Y'all getting what went through here earlier. It was 60 at noon, overcast and then boom - 40 to 50 mph winds and one power flicker requiring resetting the digital clocks. Now its 34, snowing, sticking and claiming we'll get 3 -5 inch total.

Power still out, still running on battery backup. Last ETA for getting grid power back was 7:30pm.

I had planned to cross over into VA this afternoon. I'm glad my plans changed. IDK what the mph here is, but the winds are high up and just rocking the tree tops right now.

Here are pictures I took of the transmission poles while gallivanting around over in St. Mary's today. Taken well before SMECO arrived on scene to repair. Seems they just tilted over. Nothing, no cars or trucks, hit them. I guess the soil saturation theory is correct. Or possibly the freeze/thaw cycle. Or both combined? Reckon SMECO will have to dig those pole holes much deeper, and/or pour some concrete footings as well? I wonder how much of those pole are under ground? Must be pretty short for this to happen, to move all that underground dirt sideways.

I don't ever recall the previsions bridge being closed to traffic due to high winds. So much for the latest and greatest in new bridge designs.
