My daughter stayed home yesterday because she was sick and her neck was sore and bothering her. The nurse just called and said that she was complaining of neck pain again. I said someone would be there soon to pick her up. I called my mother to see if she could because I'm about 45 minutes away. It went something like this:

Me: Mum, can you get ***** from school? Her neck is bothering her again.

Mum: Her neck has been bothering her for two days. She has meningitis and we need to get her to the doctor asap.

Me: Don't worry, I'll pick her up. (Thinking to myself I really don't need the panic to spread to an impressionable young girl)

Mum: Bring her to me and I'll love and hug her today.

Me: (in my head - Uh, no, thank you, I'll give her a tylenol and a heating pad.)

No dr. appointment yet. Rule for going to the doctor is 1) you can't stop the bleeding or 2) pain lasting 3 days. Since she slept on the floor Wednesday night I'm thinking just a sore muscle.

mmmmhmmmmm
She let her skip school for a crick in her neck. That IS the definition of pussified in my dictionary.

Shouldnt you get your child from school if the nurse calls? Can you tell the nurse to send your kid back to class or are they basically letting you know that you have no other option but to come get your kid?

You can tell them to send them back to class as long as they are not running a fever, puking or diarhea. Unless it's an actual injury, bleeding, something possibly broken etc. We have been called quite a few times this year for tummy aches & after picking her up the 1st 2 times & her just needing to eat something (didn't eat her lunch) we started telling them to send her back to class & have since been taking a closer look at her eating habits.
