Motorcycle Accident This Morning

I passed this accident right after the first ambulance arrived and traffic could still get by. It was horrible - 1 motorcycle (very mangled) and 1 red suv overturned and smashed and another red suv off the road into the trees. Very young mother in daze standing on side of road craddling a new born - one of guys from the ambulance was taking the baby out of her arms while the other one was sitting the woman down. Also an older woman was sitting on the back step of the ambulance. My sister and I both broke out in tears...very sad to hear that someone lost their life :bawl:

Hi all, The young mother is my neighbor. They are fine just shook up. She had her dog with her. Alley is a fawn boxer with a black mask. We have been all over rt 4 trying to find her. If anyone has any info on the boxer please please let me know. Amber is just sick. We have a brindle boxer named Mopar and he is so sad not to find Alley running in the yard. Amber said she seen the other truck comming up behind her and she sped up trying to get away from it before it hit her but she said she couldn't and it rolled her over the guardrail. It broke out all the windows and shook her up and the baby was still in her carseat. Police said she was very lucky. Again please keep your eye out for the dog. my email is shrlyjo@comcast.net

Hello all, Friday morning early there was an accident in front of the Valley Lee post office. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about what happened?

hello all,
Well, with the Rt 4 accident I know a bit about that. Happen to be a husband and wife on motorcycle on RT.4 near 258. There was a aggressive driver that was changing lanes back an forth without turn signal being very impatience with the flow of traffic. Well she/ he almost hit another car and that person had to get out of the way. While swerving to not get hit by the aggressive driver she hit the motorcycle and knocked the wife off the Cycle. The wife was ran over by 2 cars. Today the family had the funeral... My prayers are with the family....

FYI there was another husband and wife Motorcycle accident that happen I believe the same day. The other one was in Chesapeake Beach and it happen at night. The husband died in that accident..
For those who do ride Cycle please be very very careful... My neighbor just had a Cycle crash. He was in the hospital for over 3 weeks. From what I understand it was pretty bad. I believe he is home now I have not had the chance to go over there yet.

Man that's Tragic. One of our coworkers took a spill also on his Harley on Chancellors Run about 5 months back. Someone just pulled out in front of him and he took a Swan dive over the hood and fractured 2 vertebra in his neck. 3 operations later and the dude still has to turn his whole upper body to move his head. At least he's lucky to be alive...

Is there any way, and does it do any good to report aggressive driving? I had one yesterday while going home from work that I witnessed on Rt4 South, JUST passed the 235 crossing. He passed a car by going into oncoming traffic. Traffic was at a near stand still as it usually is at this point. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I merged in right behind him after making the right onto 4. He was just about in the trunk of the dude in front of him then. Then just before going around the last corner before the bridge, he used the shoulder to pass the guy in front of him where he was able to speed up about 30 ft, to ride the bumper of the next guy, all the way over the bridge.

I followed him all the way to Lusby. Dunno where he went from there after getting on to HG Truman Road.

It's a newer white Mitsubishi Lancer, MD tags. 1BX L51 (if i remeber right). young black male driving had a younger kid in the back that seemed awefully nervous that I was following them. I was on the bike, otherwise I would have called from the cell phone. After I got home, seemed like it was a moot point then.

Anyway, anybody have any experience with reporting aggressive drivers? Is anything actually done?

Reported a van once on Suitland Pkwy a couple years ago, then followed down Rte 4..Dispatcher didn't seem at all interested when we reported it.

You can report what was observed but unless the cop sees anything, if they locate the vehicle, your mostly just p!ssing up a rope.

Agree, calling in someone who is driving reckless or aggressive will do little without filing a formal witness statement or complaint. In most circumstances the officer "if an when he shows up", has to witnesses the acts as well.

Without witness statements or a formal complaint, if he gets pulled over he could just deny everything...

However, I personally would still call in reckless driving...

I call them in while I'm in the car and I have seen them further up the road nabbed by the officers. I give the direction, estimated speed, and my current location. It's worked twice.

The other times, I've given them my home phone and name so they could contact me if they catch them. That way I could testify. The problem is it's extremely hard to get a tag number when you're evading their actions. Without a tag number it isn't much help.

I turn them in because they could hurt someone....

I've found that I get a better reaction if I say something like "I think he's drunk."

I had a guy cut me off a while back, then they started passing a pipe back and forth. I knew nobody would care about the traffic violation, but they were waiting for him on the other side of the bridge when we got there.

:yay: I hear calls from dispatch all the time about drivers actions. Most likely called in via cell phone. There is always a lot more response when it's a possible DUI. They can prove that.

Yes. Yes. It also makes you feel much better as well.

Almost did it while I was in PA this weekend too, but I figured I'd get MD police not PA. You PA folks drive crazy. But there are some cool road signs - "Stay Alert for DUI Drivers" "Ho Train Ahead" (got a pic of that one)

yes, we do drive crazy. Goes to show ya how bad it must be for me to want to call and report someone.

Funny thing though, the tires on my truck seem to be wearing in the middle only, and not on the outside edges that so many of our other members tires seem to do.
