Mountain Lions Sighted in Bowie at 301 !

Adopt me please !
I received email from the Puma researcher who told me he just had 2 separate reports of mountain lion sightings around RT 301 in Bowie yesterday ! Anyone heard anything about this or know who saw them? Of course DNR says they don't live here but at least a few of them do apparently.

We saw a black one in the woods in Brandywine several times in the past 3 years. A neighbor saw a tan one last year in her back yard. Although these big cats tend to be nocturnal, most of the sightings I mentioned have been during daylight hours.

Haven't seen any mountain lions but I expect a few face to face encounters with bears next week while we're in Tennessee. When we went to Boone, NC, there was a family of bears that lived next to our cabin. Luckily, we only saw the baby a few times but where's there's a baby, there's a mommy nearby. :jameo:

Hey I got more information on those sightings in Bowie:

Apparently the 1st sighting was of a larger mountain lion and a smaller one. What seems interesting is the smaller one had 3 white rings on its tail and its tail had a black tip. Hmmmm.

The 2nd sighting was described as a "big big cat" that was stalking several deer about 200 feet away. The person who saw this was on a bike and opted to keep going rather than wait to see if they would be a spectator :popcorn:, or an easier meal.

I've read numerous accounts similar to this. I have to admit, I can't believe ANY of them until a non photoshopped pic is provided... I fyou have seen these animals "several" times don't you think carrying a camera would improve your credibility???

I also can't imagine, with all of the hunters we have in the area, not one has stepped forward with a carcass.

Mountain lions are now a protected species throughout the United States. Anyone who admits to killing one would come under scrutiny, so I doubt many hunters would kill one to prove they exist. There have been many hunter accounts reported to Eastern Puma Research www.easternpumaresearch.com | Wanted: information on Cougar, Mt. Lion, Puma .

The last time we saw the black one we were upstairs looking out a window to see why the dog was barking so furiously, so we ran downstairs and outside to the edge of woods behind the house, and it was already out of sight by then. I wasn't brave enough to go running into the woods to see where it may have gotten to. It's really hard to have a camera on you 24/7 in anticipation of seeing a mountain lion (though I did try to do that).

They really are here - I saw it with my own eyes, and it was awesome to see it in person after having spoken to several people who had seen them already.
