But wait, there's more...
I updated the driver, and now I'm getting a message when I go to the Mouse option in Control Panel:

Control Panel Extension is Incompatible with Driver Version

I have tried just about every damn function/feature/driver download/software update/original disk install I can try, and nothing is making this thing work again! :tantrum:

Okay ... back to bidness ... I updated the driver ... still no dice. It used to be that the forum page would scroll up and down when I'd slide my finger over the strip ... it's still not working! :tantrum:

Lick your finger first, and gently increase the stroking speed..

Damhik.. posted as HER again..

Okay, it's working in other applications (e.g., Powerpoint) ... but not Firefox. :tap:

All I get is a mini-scroll bar when I put my mouse over the window's scroll bar and slide my finger on the touch pad.

Try reboot......................

I have had silly issues with Firefox and rebooting has seemed to help. One day, I couldn't see 1/2 the smilies for some reason.

I've rebooted my laptop tonight at least a dozen times with all the things I've tried. It seems to have fixed itself in other MS apps, but Firefox isn't working with it now. It might be that I updated the version of FF I'm using ... I don't remember. But I don't know why it would've worked before and not now. Is there a "mouse operations" option in FF somewhere?

I've tried to do a screen shot of what I'm seeing in Firefox now, but it won't work. Basically, when I put my mouse over the scroll bar to the right on the screen (e.g., to scroll up and down the page), and roll my finger over the touch pad, a mini-scroll bar appears where my mouse was over the actual scroll bar on the screen. I tried clicking, doube-clicking, etc. ... no dice. :banghead:

I've had that problem with firefox in the past. I had to delete and re-install it, then it was ok. maybe try that?

My Synaptics driver didn't work with Firefox or Netscape. It worked on IE7 and in the Ie rendering engine, but never in Netscape 7.2 or Firefox. I updated to the latest Synaptics generic and it works now.

Also, the new Firefox sucks. Use 1.5 if you can still get it. I perfer IE7 and the older Netscape because I can trust they're at least stable. I've always had problems with Firefox and the only reason I ever used it was for tabbed browsing, but now IE has it.

I'm wondering if it works in IE. If it were me, I'd just put IE7 on it and done.

It worked in IE it was always firefox that I had the issues with. Like you said after vers. 1.5

2.0 Is full of junk. It went from the nice stripped down barebones to getting filled with as much junk as IE.

I'm using version 1.5.0.11 ... I don't even have IE on my laptop because I had so many problems/viruses/etc. with it in the past. I've used Firefox for several years now and never have issues with it. Even this feature worked fine before numbnuts "fixed" my computer.

I concede that it's just never going to work ... :bigsigh:

:gossip: if I say that, it'll magically start working in the morning, according to Murphy's Law. :yay:
