Movers

I am moving from Southern Maryland out to Colorado and I need to get my stuff shipped. It is not a military move or anything such as that. I have another position out there and my company is going to reimburse me after the fact. So does anyone know of any good moving companies which they would recommend.

Thanks in advance!

UHaul and do it yourself. Otherwise, good luck!

Yeah I would do it U-haul but I have a motorcycle and a car to drag along with me. Probably be quite a hassle.

Put the motorcycle in the truck, and pull the car on a dolly.

Seriously, all of the horror stories you hear about moving companies are true.

I never had a moving company move my stuff before except when I got out of the military and then I had nothing of value so I could care less. It is definately a quandry of sorts.

I was just looking at the price for a 24 foot truck with a dolly and it comes to about 2800 before gas or anthing else. My gf moved to CO from Baltimore for about 3200. So I dont know if Uhaul is even cost effective

In a more helpful thought, I have had a friend use Quality Transfer & Storage Company 301-862-2331 for a local move. From that limited experience with them, they don't fit the stereotype I outlined above. The owner has been a generous corporate citizen in St. Mary's County. So, I'd start there.

My ex-wife used a different local moving company. She couldn't get the other company to deliver her stuff to her new house. A week later, she rounded up a gang of folks to help her move it herself.

So, start with Jack at Quality Transfer & Storage Co. He's a good guy!

I have a friend that helped move stuff for me (including a very fragile grandfather clock). I know that he is looking for extra earnings and is VERY trustworthy.

My brother-in-law works for a national moving company in their business logistics division (as in he arranges moves for large companies). I can ask him for a recommendation if you'd like.
