"Just up the street" from Port Hueneme would be sprawling city of Oxnard, which is not the best place to live, in my opinion. Hopefully, she will be actually in Ventura.

Yep that is the place she told me. Madera Circle she said.

Welcome !...there are still many humble, polite, good hearted people that live in Md....most of the attitudes have been imported.......:coffee:

Best of fortunes to you and yours.

Keep telling yourself that. Pretty soon, even you will believe it.

I lived in Ventura for about a year back in 2001/2002, where I met my wife, in fact. The actual town of Ventura (downtown) is very nice, but it sprawls out in different directions and there are nicer areas than others. I personally lived out in the Saticoy area, which was OK. My sister lives down in the Seaward area. If your daughter likes sunshine, being near the water, it's nice. The fog comes in occasionally and mixes things up a bit. Overall, it was a very nice place to live, but due to the personally tumultuous times while living there, I will never go back.

Mrs BOP and I lived in Camarillo. At one time, it was a real nice area. Lately, it's been a stop-and-rob for the "bangers" from LA. They head down the 101, pull off the highway, rob a bank or a gas station or two, then boogie back south to LA. We looked at moving to Ventura, and if we'd stayed there, would have.

Port Hueneme was nice in 1999.

It's still not too bad, or wasn't as of 2005. Unfortunately, the entire Oxnard plain is becoming overrun with gangs and is starting to look like a certain 3rd world country south of the American border.

Do you consider western Charles County to include all rural areas, such as Nanjemoy, Pisgah, etc., or are you referring mostly to the 210 corridor from Indian Head, Bryans Road, Accokeek on up toward PG County?

210 corridor from Accokeek to Indian Head and parts of Waldorf area. I also moved here from California (San Clemente) about 20 years ago. Charles county was great back then but keeps getting worse as the years pass.

As I stated earlier, I live on 210 between Bryans Road and Indian Head. We have never had any trouble and the presence of the Charles County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police is daily - we are lucky because they usually sit across from our house or next door. But it is like anywhere else - be aware of your surroundings when you get out of your car and stay focused - even in LaPlata.
