If you move to the Calvert side, Patuxent High School is very good. :yay:
:yeahthat: I've been nothing but impressed with Calvert schools, but especially Patuxent High.. They really turned my middle son around.

I've heard calvert schools were pretty good. but we didn't know for sure. my husband will be working @ NAS Pax River and wasn't sure if he wanted to make the commute over that bridge! Heard some horror stories about that bridge! but i think the kids schooling is more important!

We didn't move to Calvert because of the traffic issues. It can certainly become a nightmare.

I just sent you a private message about schools. Hope it helps!

Dealing with the bridge
Dealing with the bridge is not "traffic"..

In the morings I never got slowed down due to the bridge.. coming home there was some traffic back up, but it never took me more than 45 minutes to get home from Webster Field other then the two times there were accidents. Not bad for > 2 years of commuting.

I think the slight traffic headache was more than worth it to put my kids in Patuxent HS and other schools there.. Dowell Elementary, and Mill Creek Middle.

Well excuuuuuuuse me. Don't get your panties in such a wad. 45 minutes is a long commute to me, but I'm spoiled where I live. I stand corrected if there is no traffic. Maybe I've just had bad luck with the bridge more than most.

I've had two go through Patuxent High, yes we had a few issues but with two kids, getting both through high school with just a few problems, I feel fortunate. Patuxent has a strong arts program, much more than I see at any of the other area schools. In over 7 years commuting over the bridge, I can count on one hand the times when it was a true pain. Only once in those years did I have to go up to Benedict and back down. I commuted to DC for 10 years. Lower Calvert to Pax is a peice of cake, even at rush hour.

We are moving to Southern Maryland at the end of April and was wondering what everyones opinion was on the schools in Lexington Park? We have two children. one in high school and the other in elementary. I have heard mixed things about Lexington Park schools. Please help! Thanks!

Lexington Park schools are probably of the worst in the county...moving mid county in the Hollywood or Leonardtown area is probably your best bet.

Panties aren't in a bunch, I just don't think anyone should rule out the Southern Calvert schools because of perceived traffic problems. Schools there are more than worth the bridge headaches.
