Dancing Up A Storm
The one here in town has always done me right.......great bunch of guys..:yay:

I went there last summer, to get a new set of Pirelli radial tires for my truck.

They gave me a great deal; each tire - P400($124.00 per) was reduced to $85.00 on the wheel, mounted and balanced. They didn't have them in stock, and had to order them in the size I needed. When they called to tell me they were there at the garage, I asked when I could get an appointment.

That was on a Friday, and he said that I could come in at around 1:00pm that Sunday following. When I got there, the manager told me he had a better deal for me on those tires.

"How about 4 for the price of 3?" These are 80,000 mile warranty tires!

No complaints here.

We take both vehicles to the Mr. Tire in Leonardtown and have always gotten honest and accurate service. We have bought tires, had oil changes and an all around brake job on one vehicle. They always treat us great and have never recommended anything that wasn't necessary. (I am the son of a lifelong mechanic that worked on almost every kind of car and built dirt track racecars. I am pretty sure I recognize when I am being played by a mechanic or garage).

Well those places are going to get you coming and going, Hubby changes the oil, and Big Ed tires in Leonardtown are very good about rotating the tires no charge when you buy then there. These other places are a fly by night and the people are kids that just have no clue and are told what to say needs to be done, and most cases it is something that does not need to be done in the first palce.

Mr. Tire and Tires Plus is fly by night with only kids working therehat have no idea what they are doing?

Not since I have been going there and that has been over 14 years.
You are going to pay for services, and yes there are some people in that industry that will try to sell you something you may not need but that can happen in any line of business, it helps to be an educated consumer and do your research before commiting to something such as repairs, buying cars, yada yada yada...

They are not fly by night, but they use to have quality shops, now not so much. I know several peoppe besides who posted here that have had bad experiences at Mr.Tire.

After getting an oil change in Waldorf, the salesperson comes back to tell me; "I had my state inspector look over your car and he says you really need front brakes. You are below the state min." He also tells me a few other things I should get fixed.

I don't mind them telling me of upcoming problems, in fact I want them to tell me. But, I don't think they have to be so pushy about it when I say, I will get it fixed later.

:howdy:I had 4 new tires put on my truck, around $800.00. I have a computer thing in my tire that tells me if my tire pressure is low etc. They broke one while changing out the tires. Told me they would only charge me $150 for fix it (claiming that was the cost of the part). I bought the part from Ford, took it in and made them change it at no additional charge to me. There was alot of raised voices over that issue. I won't be back.

I am glad when they look over my vehicle, I would rather someone tell me before something bad happens, but then again, I also take it for a second opinion and I do not let pushy sales people bother me.

Anybody recommend carpenter?

I'm looking for a carpenter who can 1) replace 2 front porch posts (4x4), and 2) run new dryer duct under a floor and out the side of the house. They need to be licenses/insured. Any recommendations?

Put this in the Home and Garden forum, and you will get more answers.

Some folks actually appreciate a ~trusted~ mechanic advising them of necessary repairs before those issues leave you on the side of the road. The real key is to develop a relationship with a good shop, whether it's a tire store, or independent repair shop. Oil changes and tire rotations are a great way to evaluate and find a repair shop and a technician you can trust.
