Oh, I thought @mitzi was annoyed by the not-so-subliminal messages. THOSES VOICES!!! :jameo:

Make this for your man, your man will love it, blah, blah :lmao: Back when commercials were housewives serving the husband and the men coming home from a long day of work. Times have changed.

Indeed they have. Nine times out of ten, I did the cooking in our household and shared other chores. I just couldn't get past those voices! :jameo::jameo::jameo:

Seems like the BLM people will say just about anything to get Americans all riled up for no necessary reason at all. No matter what they ask for, even if it's done exactly as they say, it is never good enough for their satisfaction. The most unnerving thing is that these companies have had people such as Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, to name some, on the packaging of their respective products for SO MANY YEARS, but was never a problem until here recently.

Next thing you know, all non-colored politicians will get thrown out of office just because they don't fit the description necessary by BLM standards. Wasn't there talks a few years ago about replacing Andrew Jackson, the president that's currently on the $20 bill with Harriet Tubman instead? If these people have it their way, they would make sure Tubman NEVER makes it onto currency in any form - not based on her history, but just because people nowadays seem to think anyone of color who is seen on any product will be deemed racist and demand that the person of color on the product be removed and replaced.

It will eventually get to a point where products will have to conform to a neutral type of branding, from the logos to not mentioning anything of color (like black beans, or white rice, for examples).

Aunt Jemima's image was changed in 1989 (I believe) to a more modern looking woman. There were several Aunt Jemima's when she traveled for promoting. Pictures floating around FB giving Nancy Green's story and the picture isn't even her. I wish people would read. This has all gone beyond ridiculous now.
If they listened to the lyrics of Brown Sugar they would have a STROKE. I hope they never do, it will banned from any airplay.

It was interesting but one-dimensional. Was Hazel a mammy? How about The Nanny? How about Nanny and the Professor?

Mammies were portrayed in media as beloved members of the family, not servants. If we recall, every time Scarlett tried to boss Mammy around she got her ass handed to her. Mammies in fiction typically run the show.

I think that's the problem with today's progbots - they don't think in big terms or vast worldview. If a black person is portrayed, it must be bad. THAT, imo, is systemic racism.

Not to mention the Yellow Rose of Texas.
