as part of buying our house in a Quality Built neighborhood we got a free $250 gift cert. to begin service with them and after 2 years we have remained with them.. I, as a woman do the lawn mowing and pay attn b/c I stay home while my husband works and its the least I can do. Anyway one morning they showed up to do their "work" and I had a friendly guy there to talk to when I asked him why I had a dead spot! Now I had perfect sod layed when my house was built and I have the grass now that I want to walkout in barefoot! I am noticing more weeds than usual but MRW is still coming. In a new neighborhood where sod is being laid and ppl have this gift certificate to use from the builder and when they come and service us and leave their little yellow flag signs I can tell who has their service and who does'nt.

If you can afford it I say go for it! I am directly next door to the model home which the lawn is perfect and it is mowed every Friday on the dot and I try to keep up and let me tell you I got a gift cert. from the realtor at the model home for keeping such a beautiful lawn and I believe MRW helped with that

Rick said it just as I experienced their customer service, "What you need to realize is that it is time to stop grasping at straws and blaming us for YOUR failure". My failure? All I did was paid for a beautiful lawn that I never received.

The lawn was never right, never filled in, had bare spots throughout the side and rear yard. There were far more problems than those 2 burn spots and those other reasons are why I did not trust you could do it right the second time either. It had weeds of a variety that never existed in the lawn prior to your work on it, which leads me to believe they were in the seed mixture used on the lawn.

Hopefully this discussion is sufficient to at least prompt others to research MRW a little better than trusting the song and dance given up front. The sales pitch was great and it cost me dearly. I did water frequently, during the hours recommended, and I had a great deal of faith in the company until the situation was turned on me and I was accused. As if I would destroy my own lawn?

Your comment I quoted above is exactly why I feel compelled to warn others in advance of their decision so they can get a better perspective from some people whose experience may not be the typical MRW customer experience. The gentleman asked if anyone had experience with MRW and I simply and factually answered his question with my personal experience. The fact that I had to defend a personal experience is rather odd in itself because a personal experience is, well, just that. You don't have to like the answer, but that does not make it any less truthful. And for people to see you once again point the finger at, and place blame upon, the customer should provide them the appropriate insight into what to expect when things do not go right. You can talk about your great customer service all you want, but if you cannot put those words into actions is meaningless and insulting to anyone who has an experience contrary to your claims. No company has perfect customer service, but it is clear you do not manage it well and take appropriate measures when the customer is less than satisfied.

There will be many whose experiences are flawless and you are to be commended for those. However, to attempt to skew opinion about a negative personal experience in order to try to appear better than the claim is both unethical and distasteful. I did not post anything here to argue with you regarding the quality of your business. I witnessed and lived it myself and these are my experiences. That's what the original poster asked for and that's what I provided. Respond any way you like, but none of it changes fact or my personal experience.

They are the worst

Does anybody have any experience with them?
Please tell us about it.

I dealt with MRW Lawns for one year, fertilizing only. My lawn did not improve, there were weeds, crab grass, and the grass got burnt a bit.

At the end of the year, I let them know that I would no longer be using their services. They did not record it in their records, showed up at the start of the next season and sent me a bill.

I immediately called and demanded they stop treatment since I already had a different service that applied the same treatment. They resent me a bill for that one treatment that they did not have authorization to apply.

I called an refused to pay. They told me they would look into it. I then continued to receive the same bill over and over again, then today I received a notice from a collection agency.

My only saving grace, since this bill is only for about $60, is that I suspect my credit has been affected and I can now sue them for a lot more than the pittance that is actually in dispute.

If they come calling, hang up, run away, or do whatever you need to do to keep them away from your lawn and your credit.

Sparky,
Sorry for your bad experience. It is hard to comment because I know nothing about what happend. It certainly does not sound like MRW Lawns, Inc that you were dealing with. It is company policy that service calls be expedited within 48 hours for customers in good standing. Given the opportunity, I would do everything in my power that is reasonable to the situation that I could to satisfy you. If you would like more follow up, feel free to contact me at rickl@mrwlawns.com

Wow, seriously??? Are you accusing me of not knowing what company I wrote the check out to for lawn service? I used MRW for several years and was satisfied at my first residence. Then again I never needed emergency weed treatment because it was a well established 20 yr old lawn. My new house proved just how much you would stand behind the service when weeds all but took over and several calls were just ignored IMO. I dumped MRW mid contract because of the failure to come out and address the issue.

How much to re-seed and level about 4 acres of tilled (and partially leveled) ground?

We would have to see the job to give an estimate. Are you sure you want to fuss with 4 acres of lawn? You probably should seed the "pasture" with a pasture blend and pick a few thousand square feet around the house for the fine turf area. Also, consider a sprinkler system for the best results if you are dealing with a really large turf area. Contact me if you want an estimate. It is still a good time to seed. The cool nights, warm days and ample rainfall are perfect for germination, but it won't last forever.
