MSNBC’s Wallace on SCOTUS Immunity Ruling: Trump Could Target Me, People Will Flee the Country

I'm not a fan of this ruling. I think this gives president's way too much leniency to be able to get away with a lot of things. And I'm not thinking about Trump. Biden is the guy in office now and it gives him a lot more leeway than he had before the ruling. But even going past that. I see the liberal think tank moving on Abortion, gun rights, and voting rights. The borderline legal has just become possible for a liberal President to do and have immunity from the law even if he steps over the legal line. Biden has already tested legal laws with his college loan forgiveness programs. With immunity from the law why wouldn't a liberal president step way over the line?
This is what I said to the left when Harry Reid changed the senate rules to take it from a 60 vote to a simple majority to approve judges. He claimed it was necessary to break the log jam of justices that Obama had nominated. I said, "Be careful what you wish for." Eventually, Trump included that for Supreme Court Justices. Who did not see that coming? So my warning for everyone who applauds this rule is......"Be careful what you wish for."

Most can’t see beyond the end of their noses. A “win” is all that matters.
It has always been implied that presidents have immunity for official acts that the opposing party doesn't like. If the president signs a budget bill and the oppos don't like it, can they charge him with a crime? No. If a president sends troops into a global situation can he be charged with attempted murder? No.
Shooting some TV pundit in the head isn't an official act. Under our Constitution, if said pundit is accused of a crime, they go through the process - they don't just get an automatic death penalty. Even if an American citizen is accused of being a terrorist or Russian spy, they still go through the process. The president doesn't just send out a hit squad.
And if powerful people wanted Muppet Face dead, she'd be dead and they'd cover it up to look like a "robbery gone wrong" or something. Muppet et al know how this works, but they're throwing out red meat for the progbot wolverines to snap at. Sotomayor knows how this works, but she has been given her talking points and that is what she pukes up, no matter how retarded she sounds.
Not to mention politicians - particularly Democrat ones - get away with an AWFUL lot of sh*t. Most of these scumbags - including Joe Biden - if they were private citizens without a horde of cabalists and skeevy lawyers and assorted leg breakers behind them, they'd be rotting in prison even as we speak. If our DOJ decided to prosecute money laundering, we'd lose the POTUS, 2/3 of the Senate, and a big ass chunk of the House. All those deaths during the Clinton regime - anyone even get investigated?
So this SCOTUS ruling was just officializing what we already practice in this country. Had the Democrats not gone after Trump so viciously and without a solid long term plan, there would never have been a reason to remind them they can't flurry their political opponent with drummed up criminal charges to keep him off the ballot.
Again, SCOTUS shouldn't have had to tell the Democrats that. And yet here we are.
Unless they are al-Awlakis or sitting nearby one at a restaurant.
Good point, and another reason why this SCOTUS decision should be moot. I don't recall anyone filing criminal charges against Obama for any of the shady or flat out illegal things he did as president.
You and I are old enough to remember Iran-Contra and what a big deal that was. Yet Fast and Furious....meh.....nary a peep.

Presidents have pretty much always had immunity, and when they didn't they got a pardon from the new President.
The sht. the democrats have pulled this time with their lawfare had never been done before----and for a good reason
It is divisive. It make the country look third world to try to imprison a former President.
No party was ever stupid enough to lay open their own President to charges like Trump has had to put up with.
It is a testament to the stupidity of this Administration and the Democrat party that this had to go before the SCOTUS.
There have been dirty campaign before , but nothing to match this festering sore the Democrats have opened against Donald Trump.
And as further proof they cheated to place a demented old politician and a dirty kneed semi black woman in office and now they can't get rid of them. The party of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck the Schmuck no doubt the most corrupt in the 248 year history of the Declaration of Independence.
And that is saying something.
