MVA One Overturned - Mechanicsville

Not in the woods. Conversion van LITERALLY upside down in a tree next to coffee hill welding behind where the Amish guy sets up his produce stand. I don't know how he got air born. Hope someone got pics.]


The van was traveling north towards Charles county and there was a vehicle turning Left onto Army Navy Drive, the van nearly missed the car that was turning. The van swirved to fast and drove through Coffie Hill yard hit the dirt bank before the trees which caused the van to go airborn. The van glided into the trees where it got stuck, Helo took patients from scene.

At 1704 hours, Station 2, Charles Rescue Squad 10, EMS Stations 29, Charles 15 and 14, along with SMALS were alerted to Budds Creek Road in the area of Aviation Yacht Club Road for the motor vehicle accident, reported one overturned in the woods. Additional information received advised both occupants were trapped in the vehicle.

Rescue Squad 2 (Lt. Cox) and Tanker 2 (Chief 22B Hemming) were responding to a house fire in Charles County and were released to respond on this incident. Tanker 2 arrived first, confirming one in the woods and two trapped.

Rescue Squad 2, followed by Rescue Engine 222 (Sgt. Barnes) (who cleared another accident and responded) arrived and both units went to work stabilizing the vehicle and preparing for extrication. A medevac was requested for the driver after an assessment was completed.

Engine 21 established a landing site near the scene for Trooper 7.

One patient was transported to Prince George's General by Trooper 7 and the other refused treatment.
Charles Ambulance 158 obtained the refusal.

Units operated on the scene for just over an hour.
