Was at a friends farm a couple of years ago and one of the guys there was telling about going into some store to buy douche after his dog got skunked. Said the whole place started laughing when he asked if this woud get rid of a real skunky smell.

update......

Thanks to my kwilliabean for bumping the tread and pointing in the right direction....The "solution" worked

The dogs are smelling of liquid soap(apple) and eating dog treats as I type....the clothes that I wore to bathe both of them are tightly wrapped in 2 trash bags and sitting in the back of my truck waiting for me to take them to the dump

and the house if Febrezed

Did the skunk actually come into your yard? I never see skunks unless they are dead on the road. We had a groundhog come into the yard...he didn't make it out.

What kind of dog?? What did they charge..I would have done her but I was grooming this am and did not see this

For next time...the lactic acid in milk is a natural neutralizer. We had 2 cats who got sprayed and it worked like a charm. And bathing a cat or dog in milk is much more pleasant for all parties concerned!

my brother actually got skunked last year. He tried to break up a fight btwn his cat and the skunk by shooting a gun in the air. The skunk turned and sprayed. He came to my house about a hour later-and a few showers-and I wanted to puke from the smell... GROSS....
Just had to laugh at him.
