Are they rhodos or azaleas? :eyebrow:

J/K! :lmao:

Round-Up! :yay: It has to touch the leaves to kill it, so your rhodos will be ok as long as you don't spray them.

Or...do you have a weed eater? Weed eat the grass and then rake back the mulch and put down weed fabric or a ton of wet newspapers...then recover with mulch.

Good luck! :flowers:

Recently read somewhere to use a coffee can, cut both ends off, place it over the weed, and spray the roundup inside the can. Will keep the spray from getting on plants you don't want to harm. Temp needs to be WARM (70+) for the roundup to work. :howdy:

What is a cheap and easy way to get rid of all that grass without having to dig it up? The man suggested we fry it with fertalizer but I don't want to kill the bushes. And ideas? I don't want to invest a ton of time and money since we'll be gone in a year but I don't want it to look all nasty either.

The best method I've ever found does take time but works well and is cheap. Cover the area with black plastic. It cooks whatever is underneath it and kills it. Take the plastic off after a couple of weekw, remove the dead stuff, turn the soil over, and replace the plastic so anything sprouting or remaining is killed.

I don't really like Roundup, especially if you have kids and pets. It is highly toxic and doesn't break down easily, remaining toxic in the soil for quite some time.

I also don't recommend using the weed barrier material unless you've removed most of the grass first as it can grow through it. I know - been there and tried it. Thick layers of newspaper with a deep layer of mulch on top is much more effective IMO.
